"Waterfall” and “accessible” usually don’t end up in the same sentence. Most of the time, chasing waterfalls means tackling root-filled trails, steep stairs, and a whole lot of mud.

Well, David Fortier River Park in Olmsted Falls said: hold my water! 💦

This spot is proof that you don't have to go off-grid to get a great view. A brief trek—less than 500 feet from the parking lot along a wide, packed-gravel path—takes you right to these stunning cascading views. It’s so smooth and manageable that even my rollator cruised down to the upper falls lookouts with zero fuss.

🪨 A Little Quarry History
It’s not just pretty—it’s full of history, too! Back in the late 1800s, this area was a active Berea sandstone quarry. Years of quarrying carved out the ground along the West Branch of the Rocky River and Plum Creek. When the quarry closed in the early 1900s, nature took the wheel, leaving behind smooth stone shelves and massive leftover sandstone blocks that create these gorgeous, rushing falls today.

🚂 Stay Tuned!
Right next door is a spot you definitely don't want to miss. In my next post, we’re heading into Grand Pacific Junction to check out some truly unique local shopping, delicious dining, and an insanely cute 1800s-esque train depot!

📍 Location: David Fortier River Park | Olmsted Falls, OH

♿ Accessibility: Smooth, packed gravel path, under 500 ft from the lot. Highly rollator, wheelchair, and stroller friendly!

No 90-minute lines under the scorching sun. No rushing through a crowded park. Just walking through the atrium and running into Vampire Mickey in his Halloween best. 🧙‍♂️✨

One of my favorite secrets about is how personal the character moments feel. On a ship, the magic comes to you—whether it’s a quiet hug in the hallway, special themed costumes you can’t see anywhere else, or zero-stress photos that turn into forever core memories.

Unmute, take a deep breath, and let your mind go weightless for 10 seconds. 🌿✨

You don’t always need to book a flight to find a little peace—sometimes the best travel moments start with finding quiet spots right in your own backyard. Whether it’s a calm creek around the corner or a hidden trail on your next getaway, nature is always waiting to reset your battery.

Where is your go-to spot when you need to recharge? Drop it in the comments! 👇Do you know where this fav of mine is?

When you're carrying heavy grief or navigating recovery, travel isn't about an escape. It's about finding a safe place to land. 🌅

Tomorrow, Feature #11 of our Wander Women series goes live on the blog.

We sat down with Melissa—a mother who stepped out of a dark blur of SIDS loss and active addiction to rebuild a life anchored by 13 years of sobriety, state park campfires with her kids, and total authenticity.

Growing up in Avon, Ohio, in a loving, close-knit family, Melissa’s sanctuary was always outdoors. But addiction and profound loss don't pick and choose based on household or background.

In this feature, she shares her raw truth on breaking the "well-rounded" myth, navigating single-parent bandwidth, and finding genuine, weightless peace under a starlit sky.

🌿 Full story drops tomorrow morning on the blog.

If you or someone you know is navigating sudden infant loss or early recovery, tomorrow’s feature also includes a curated, dedicated directory of national grief support resources.

IT's International Owl Appreciation Day! Looking for a feather-ed cool adventure right in our backyard? 🦉✨

Northeast Ohio is home to some incredible wildlife sanctuaries and conservation centers that offer hands-on, up-close encounters with native and exotic owls. Beyond the fun, these facilities focus on humane education, wildlife rehabilitation, and conservation, giving you a deeper respect for these silent hunters while supporting the essential care they receive!

Here are 4 amazing owl experiences to check out: 👇

🦉 1. The Ohio School of Falconry (Medina, OH) Experience: Held at the Izaak Walton League, their Owl Encounter (Falconry 301) lets you glove-hold trained species, learn about their biology, and watch silent flight demonstrations up close.

🦉 2. Lake Erie Nature & Science Center (Bay Village, OH) Experience: Home to non-releasable native ambassadors! Check out their interactive Wonders of Wildlife programs or book a seasonal Owl Prowl for planetarium sessions and guided night walks.

🦉 3. Raptor Center at Carlisle Reservation (LaGrange, OH) Experience: Lorain County Metro Parks’ sanctuary for non-releasable birds of prey. Explore the outdoor aviary trails, or support their work through "Adopt-a-Raptor" behind-the-scenes tours and photo ops!

🦉 4. Raptor Hallow Sanctuary (Alliance, OH) Experience: Book a private Owl Encounter for up to 4 people where you can hand-feed an owl, take photos, and assist with flight training, or look out for their seasonal OWLoween events!

📌 Save this Reel—it’s hoot-ally worth adding to your Northeast Ohio bucket list! ✈️ Share this Reel with whoooo-ever needs a local adventure this weekend!

Is your idea of a "vacation" lately a solo run to Target just to hear yourself think? 🙋‍♀️

Try this instead: schedule a 15-minute park detour on your way home.

It sounds simple, but those 15 minutes can literally save the rest of your evening.

The Science Behind the Reset
Lowers Cortisol Fast: Exposure to natural running water and green space drops stress hormones within minutes, shifting your body out of "fight-or-flight" mode.

Resets Mental Fatigue: Research on Attention Restoration Theory shows that visual nature scenes restore your brain's capacity to focus and process daily stress.

Prevents Burnout Spillover: Taking a quick pause creates a physical buffer between a chaotic day and your home life, so you don't carry that tension into your evening.

Next time you're out running errands, pull into a local spot like David Fortier Park. Kick off your shoes, put your feet in the creek, and give yourself 15 minutes to just be.

You’ll walk into your house feeling like a completely different person. 🌿✨

Sunday sanctuary. 🌿

There’s something otherworldly and spiritual about being surrounded by the forest—rushing water, chittering chipmunks, black squirrels darting up trees, and church bells echoing through a lush canopy.

That’s my kind of church. ✨

Alaska just got a major price drop—here’s why. 📉🏔️

Whenever a major player enters a competitive market, prices shift—and MSC’s entry into Alaska is doing exactly that. More competition means cruise lines across the board are forced to adjust their rates to stay competitive.

What does that mean for you?

Bucket-list views like Dawes Glacier, whale watching in Juneau, and sailing the Inside Passage are suddenly way more accessible. You don't have to wait "someday" or drop a massive fortune to cross this off your list.

🚢 Now is the sweet spot to book.
Send me a DM or comment ALASKA below, and let’s find the best route and rate for your trip!
