Fun fact when this locomotive was owned by Jerry Jacobson it ran at one is now the Mad River & Nickel Plate Railroad Museum Coach Yard as Nickel Plate Road No. 17.

This event is perfect for young children, families and railfans. For just $7 per rider (convenience fee may apply), you can take a short ride on one of our three restored railroad cabooses. After your ride enjoy hot cocoa and cookies in our beautifully restored Nickel Plate Road dining car before heading over to our Museum’s Monument Station for a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Trains depart on a set schedule. Passengers can choose their preferred time when purchasing tickets. This eliminates wait times at the boarding site and provides a more enjoyable experience for passengers.

All tickets are pre-sold, no tickets will be available during the event.

A rainy day railfanning on the Delaware River Railroad with Susquehanna No. 142.

Now compared to the Steam in the Valley on the CVSR the Bel-Del operation kind of puts things into perspective. The vastness of Delaware River makes the Cuyahoga River seem like a creek in comparison. Then there is the amount of railroad lore jammed packed into this former Pennsylvania Railroad branch with the old Central Railroad of New Jersey and Lehigh Valley lines crossing above the station at Phillipsburg, NJ.

Along the line there are plenty of interesting sights from old coke ovens, stone farm houses, and bridges. At some points the road is mere feet from the rails. With a good enough driver you can catch the train at least seven times on its journey to Riegelsville!
