As Lifebanc prepares for its annual Gift of Life Walk & Run, transplant recipients Griff Hill and LaShawn Taylor, donor Freeman Mahone, and Lifebanc CEO Katie Payne share stories.

August is National Multiethnic Donor Awareness Month, a collaborative effort to save lives and improve the quality of life for diverse communities by fostering a positive culture around organ, eye and tissue donation. Why is NMDAM needed? 60% of patients on the national transplant waiting list are from multicultural communities. The need for donation and transplant is more pronounced in minority communities where disproportionately higher rates of diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease contribute to organ failure, especially kidney failure.

π¦ What an incredible day at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo! π¦
Lifebanc teamed up with 93.1 WZAK to bring our lifesaving mission to the community in the most fun way possible. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, learned about the power of organ, eye, and tissue donation, and helped us spread the word that one donor can save up to 8 lives and heal more than 75 others.
A huge thank you to our partners and volunteers who made this event happen β and to every visitor who took a moment to stop by. π
