Some weddings just have an ease to them.
This was one of those.
A small, laid-back wedding in Lexington, surrounded by friends and family, with absolutely no shortage of love in the room. Everyone was relaxed, happy to be there, and completely wrapped up in celebrating these two.
And then there was the garden.
Lush, green, and beautiful enough that these two really didn’t have to do much besides stand there and be themselves.
These are still some of my favorite wedding portraits I’ve taken.
I’m really grateful I got to be there for this one.

A new baby is a huge deal for everyone in the family.
But especially for the kid who just became a big brother or big sister.
They’ve gone from being the baby to having a whole new person in their world, and I think it’s really important to give them a place in these photographs, too.
Big brother was so sweet and so excited about his new baby brother. He wanted to be involved, wanted to show him some love, and was completely invested in this new little person who had suddenly joined the family.
And honestly, some of these photographs wouldn’t have been nearly as magical without him in them.

I really do love photographing events.
There’s something about being in a room full of people who are already having a good time that makes my job pretty damn fun. I’m not trying to make everyone stop what they’re doing and pose for me. I’m there to catch what’s happening, pull a group together when it makes sense, grab the details, and let people get back to enjoying themselves.
And women’s events have one particular advantage: the fashion.
The shoes. The purses. The outfits. There is always something I want to photograph.
I’ve got several holiday-season events on my radar, and if you’ve got one coming up that needs a photographer, let me know. I can do pop-up photography, full event coverage, step-and-repeats, or a combination depending on what your event needs.
And if it’s a big enough event to need more than one photographer, that’s something I can help coordinate, too.

The little details are my favorite.
The soft fuzz on a tiny arm. The hair that caused all your heartburn. Those impossibly small feet.
They’re here for such a short time, and then they aren’t quite this small anymore.
So yes, we’ll take the beautiful portraits.
But I want to remember these little pieces, too.

The Greek Festival is happening this weekend!
These are a few photographs from inside the church. If you’ve never been in, it’s definitely worth taking a look. The interior is beautiful and there are so many details to see.
But more importantly, go enjoy the festival. Eat some delicious Greek food, get some pastries, get the loukoumades, watch the dancers, and have a good time.
And the next time you start thinking about that event you have coming up, give me a call and let me take the photographs so you can enjoy your own festivities.

You could tell they were just so happy to be getting married.
Every time I look at these photographs, they’re laughing, looking at each other, completely wrapped up in the fact that this was actually happening.
They were here, they were in love, and they were having an absolutely fantastic time celebrating it.
And honestly, I think that’s the good stuff.

There’s a very specific window when siblings are completely obsessed with each other.
They want to be together. They want to climb on each other. They want to hold hands and be in the middle of whatever the other one is doing.
Eventually, they’ll discover the ancient sibling tradition of arguing over absolutely everything.
But right now? They’re friends.
And honestly, the bickering makes pretty cute pictures too.
I’m here for all of it.

Today, on the 25th anniversary of 9/11, I found myself caught in the personal memory of that morning, as I’m sure most of us did.
And then my thoughts went to this weekend.
Last year, I had the absolute privilege and honor of spending a weekend with some of the families connected to Tuesday’s Children (now, Tuesday’s Promise). My own life was impacted by September 11th, but not remotely to the extent that these families’ lives have been.
To have been able to spend that time with these beautiful souls gave me a truly lovely memory to associate with a day that will always carry so much tragedy and loss.
I am incredibly grateful to them for sharing that weekend with me, and deeply grateful for the work that organizations like Tuesday’s Promise do for families who continue to live with the effects of unimaginable loss.

I’m just gonna go ahead and say it.
Yes, we’re officially in the holiday-photo season.
But your holiday pictures don’t have to scream holiday. They don’t have to be a quick little timestamp that lives on a card for a few weeks and then disappears into a drawer.
Get the pictures you actually want to live with.
Put them on your walls. Give them to the grandparents. Share them with the family. Keep them around all year because you genuinely love looking at them.
Your holiday photos can be the gift that keeps on giving. You get to decide what you want them to feel like, and what you want to do with them afterward.
So if you’re thinking about family photos this year, now’s the time to figure out your vibe and get on the calendar.

The little details change so quickly.
The tiny hands. The feet. The curve of an ear. The way they look at you before their face starts to change and fill out.
Newborn photos aren’t just about getting a beautiful picture of the baby. They’re about documenting all those tiny details that you don’t realize you’ll miss until they’ve changed.
Because they will change. Constantly.
And someday, you’ll look back at these and remember just how small they really were.
