AI can recommend the next move and still leave your team doing the real work by hand.

That usually happens when the process only exists inside one screen. The approval rules, exceptions, and audit trail are trapped in an interface that another system cannot reliably call.

A process engine changes that. It separates the rules from the screen, so a person, portal, automation, or AI agent can trigger the same governed workflow with the same approvals and audit trail.

Before buying another AI tool, find one high-friction process and ask: can anything besides this screen run it?

We had another great “Genie Is Out of the Bottle” AI workshop today because the first one went so well, and I loved seeing such a practical, curious group of business owners and team members in the room.

We talked about how to use AI in real business workflows, where it can save time, where you still need a human in the loop, and why it’s so important to fix the process before you automate it.

Our next workshop is September 23rd, and we’d love to have you join us. You can come by yourself or bring your team so you can learn together and leave with a shared starting point.

If AI has been on your mind but you’re not sure where to begin, this is a great place to start.

A growth plan can work exactly as intended and still create a mess.

The real test is whether your onboarding, pricing, handoffs, and reporting can absorb more clients without creating more exceptions. Before you add volume, find the operating constraint that will carry it.

A signed agreement is not cash in the bank.

The delay often starts after the sale, when someone must notice the deal closed, pull the approved terms, prepare the invoice, send it, and remember to follow up.

An AI agent can handle that repetitive noticing and drafting across the tools you already use. People still approve invoices, resolve disputes, and protect the client relationship.

The right first step is not buying another platform. Map the handoff from closed-won to paid, then automate the parts that depend on someone remembering.

Professional service firms often build for one of two markets: enterprise accounts with large budgets, or commodity buyers looking for speed and price.

That leaves a profitable middle unserved. These clients have real complexity, are willing to pay a fair professional fee, and want an ongoing advisory relationship. But they are too small for the enterprise sales process and too complex for the commodity offer.

Closing that gap is a systems design decision. Build a clear intake path, package the common engagements, and price for the relationship instead of the transaction.

At our last workshop, someone said this out loud and half the room nodded:

"I gather a ton of business cards at networking meetings. I hate getting them into my CRM system. It's the task I hate the most, but I need all of that information."

That's the real problem. Not "how do I use AI." It's the twenty minutes of data entry sitting between a good conversation and an actual follow-up.

So we built a working version of it, live, in the room. It read the cards, pulled names and companies, and flagged who to follow up with first. Nobody watching was technical.

In that same room we had a banker, a lighting contractor, a children's author, a freight brokerage owner, and a professional organizer. Different businesses, same complaint: the busywork is eating the week.

Two sessions this September in Delaware. Bring a real problem from your business. Leave with something that works.
