I’ve finally moved my babies to the silkie barn, so it’s time to let my old set up go.

This is a 9x18 run with a greenhouse cover with windows. I had it separated into 6 small pens for temporary use but long term I think the birdies would be happier with 4 pens.

We’ve been working hard to insulate our new Silkie barn, and this week’s heat has reminded us exactly why that project matters. It has required lots of late nights, but every improvement makes life a little more comfortable for these sweet babies.

Not this sweet girl, but I did lose one today. This Arkansas heat is brutal. We have been doing ALL the things to keep them cool. Sometimes it’s just not enough.

We have been working furiously on the silkie barn to get them moved into a temp controlled environment, but it’s been one set back after another.
