October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. 💜
This month is dedicated to raising awareness, honoring survivors, and remembering those we’ve lost to domestic and sexual violence. But awareness isn't just a calendar event—it is an urgent, everyday necessity.
Recent headlines are a stark reminder of how widespread these issues remain across our communities and campuses:
In the national spotlight, renewed focus on high-profile cases like the Cornell 7 allegations highlights the critical need for accountability, safety in campus spaces, and survivor-centered responses. Right here in Oregon, the University of Oregon issued a community alert following five reported sexual assaults on or near campus in just the past week.
Whether on a college campus, in a home, or anywhere in our community, violence and boundary violations are never acceptable. No one has to navigate the aftermath of trauma or abuse alone.
At the Center Against R**e and Domestic Violence (CARDV), we are here for you—offering free, confidential, and compassionate support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Collaboration is key to building a stronger, more resilient community. CARDV was happy to participate in the Corvallis Area Resource Event yesterday! The event provided a fantastic platform to engage in direct, meaningful conversations with local residents and understand their needs better. Equally valuable was the opportunity to network and deepen our relationships with fellow community partners. Thank you to everyone involved! 🤩

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day. For survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, the weight of trauma and isolation can feel overwhelming. Please know that you do not have to carry this alone, and your feelings are completely valid. Reaching out for help is a profound sign of strength and hope. We have some amazing news to share! The Albany Mennonite Church awarded us a wonderful $30,000 grant, which allowed us to fully furnish our Linn County shelter and add play structures to all our locations for the kids and families who come through our doors. We are overflowed with gratitude for their kindness and support! 🏠✨

CARDV attended plenty of Pride celebrations this summer, and all were successful in meeting you all and educating the community on our resources/services! Back when we attended Albany Pride, we asked people if they would like to make notes dedicated to survivors in hardship. This is a look back to all the encouraging support and unwavering love the community and other survivors had to share with those in that hardship. Whether it’s related to our services or not, you’re never alone

This July marks CARDV's 45th year of service! 💜
Back in 1981, our hotline was only answered on the weekends by dedicated volunteers. Today, our crisis and support line is answered 24/7, 365 days a year by fully trained advocates. While many things have changed over the decades, CARDV's commitment to serving survivors in our community remains unwavering.
