AURORA's mission is to inspire a more accessible future of art and technology by supporting the voices of today’s artists and connecting diverse communities through transformative public art experiences. A cornerstone of arts and culture in North Texas, AURORA is a Dallas-based public arts organization working at the intersection of art, technology and community. Through the AURORA Biennial exhibition and their year-round arts programming–AURORA Expanded–the organization successfully engages with both regional and international audiences alike, aiming to establish Dallas as a global cultural center for art and technology. Supporting artists who explore the boundaries of art and technology is crucial in enabling them to create works that reflect current global events, provide creative solutions, and offer fresh perspectives. AURORA is spearheading this movement of technology-backed creativity, developing something unique and forward-thinking in Texas. AURORA was founded in 2010 by artists Shane Pennington and Joshua King, along with veteran Dallas arts supporter Veletta Forsythe Lill. The inaugural exhibition was a one-night-only public art event featuring light, video and sound artworks; now, AURORA exists as a multifaceted platform. Video Art Night is AURORA’s annual program that showcases video artworks, spotlighting regional and national talent and transforming unexpected public spaces into temporary art experiences. Video Art Night is part of a long-term partnership between AURORA and Downtown Dallas, Inc., connecting new audiences with the impact of technology on the arts through free and accessible events. This year, VAN also expanded to a second city, presenting the VAN Denton edition with its own innovative artworks in our neighboring city.

Take a look at these creations from our ‘Remixing Space and Time: An Intro to 3D Printing and Scanning’ workshop last month, led by Nick Bontrager and presented as part of Art Quest 2026!
The workshop introduced participants to simple, easy and low-cost techniques for capturing 3D objects and offering an introduction to digital fabrication. The results are fantastic!

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Bachman Branch Library this past Saturday for Karla Ramirez Santin’s 'Memory in Migration' workshop—the final Art Quest event of the year. 🦋
In this free, bilingual community art workshop, participants transformed memories, family stories, cultures, and places that shape their identities into one-of-a-kind artworks.
The afternoon continued with a mini Art Quest scavenger hunt guided by Teatro Dallas performers, as participants searched for hidden prints of Karla’s artwork throughout the library to discover and take home.
With that, we’re closing out this year’s Art Quest journey—grateful for all the stories, connections, and experiences shared along the way. ✨
