God's vision for us is always bigger than we have imagined.

The Great Commission is a co-mission, an invitation to labor together with God. Jesus did not tell His disciples to stand looking toward heaven and wait for Him to do everything. He empowered them through the Holy Spirit to become His witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

In this message, I teach about living as covenant people who trust in the finished work of Jesus, reconciling people who cross divides, generous people who believe there is more than enough, and generational people who build for the future. Following Jesus is not limited to Sunday. It reaches into our work, our relationships, and every place God sends us.

Conversion is the beginning. Discipleship is the life of learning to follow Jesus and allowing Him to change our opinions, ideas, and direction.

Do you remember where you were?

I do.
I’ll never forget.
I hope you don’t either.
The terrorists were following an eschatology of world domination and destruction.

Twenty five years ago today, our nation was changed forever.

We remember the lives that were lost, the families who still carry that loss, and the first responders who ran toward danger to help others.

Today, Kathy and I are praying for every family forever changed by September 11. May God continue to bring comfort, strength, and peace, and may we never forget the courage, compassion, and unity shown in the days that followed.

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted. Psalm 34:18

We remember. We honor. We pray.

Years ago, Kathy asked me what I was ashamed of. I couldn't point to one particular thing. I just carried the feeling that I wasn't enough, and it seemed ready to attach itself to anything.
I was already preaching. Yet I still measured my relationship with God by how well I thought I was doing.
What changed my understanding was the truth of covenant. God's promise to me was stronger than the measure I kept taking of myself. Jesus had already accomplished the work of my salvation.
If you recognize that feeling, I want to point you to what helped me: place your faith in what He has done.

Difficult times can tempt us to let one painful moment define the whole story.

In 2 Kings 4, the Shunammite woman had a lifeless son at home. Yet when she was asked what was happening, she answered, “It is well.”

She did not say, “He is well.” She said, “It is well.”

She was not denying what had happened. She understood that the present moment was not the whole plan.

We can face the evidence honestly without surrendering our hope to it. When we do not understand what is happening, we can still trust the One who knows the end from the beginning.

The plan is still in place. It is well.
