Opus Precision LLC, in partnership with Pfitzner Performance Gearbox (PPG), announces the new Heavy-Duty 2nd Gear Upgrade for the 2024+ Can-Am Maverick R, 2 seater, 7-speed DCT transmission.

This upgrade directly addresses the factory 2nd gear’s vulnerability in high-horsepower applications. It replaces the weak OEM components with PPG’s precision-machined, high-strength gears featuring upgraded metallurgy, advanced heat treatment, and reinforced tooth profiles for superior load capacity.

A holiday weekend of riding led to several inquiries regarding our Maverick R transmission upgrades.

As a parts developer and manufacturer, we are usually focused on engineering rather than marketing, but we are excited to announce that these upgrades are now publicly available.

In addition to addressing known factory issues like the pinion nut,
we have developed a performance upgrade for the variable displacement high-pressure pump.

Engineering a high-quality performance part takes time.
Previously when working on development for the DL800 in the Audi R8 and Lamborghini Huracán, our strategy was to beef up every component immediately to protect a $30k+ transmission.
The Maverick R project is very different. Here, our focus was to pinpoint the exact OEM weaknesses, ensuring you only improve the necessary areas without spending money on parts you don't actually need.

Furthermore, Pfitzner Performance Gearboxes (PPG) in Australia is expected to ship a batch of our upgraded 2nd gear sets soon. We will begin installing these shortly, offering both a reliable repair for broken gears and peace of mind for riders.
