The numbers are in! 🙌 The 2025 ASPS Plastic Surgery Statistics Report is LIVE on PRSJournal.com – a year shaped by weight loss trends, evolving aesthetic goals and patient motivations.

Approximately 15 million Americans were using GLP-1 receptor agonists as of May 2024. Following weight loss associated with these medications, some patients seek body-contouring surgery to address loose skin and other changes. In a new study published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Lee et al. found that GLP-1 RA use was associated with significantly higher rates of wound healing complications among nondiabetic patients undergoing panniculectomy, abdominoplasty, or breast reduction. Patients considering surgery should discuss GLP-1 RA management with their medical team before surgery and during recovery.
