“REST” is more than a spoken word single, it’s a call to action for Black women to lay to rest everything we’ve been carrying.
Written from MasterPiece’s personal journey, “REST.” explores the decision to release people-pleasing, resist the pressure to overwork, step out of survival mode, and make room for restoration. It is permission to put down what is heavy, reclaim your peace, rejuvenate your spirit, and step fully into your revival. Most of all learning that it’s ok to say NO.

“TONYELA” my first full-length album since “Slingshot” in 2017, is now available on all streaming platforms.
A genre-defying body of work, TONYELA by international Poet MasterPiece exists at the intersection of hip hop, R&B, pop rock, gospel, and spoken-word poetry, creating a sound and experience that is difficult to place in a single category and impossible to experience without feeling something.
For years, MasterPiece has teetered on the line between lyricist and poet, seamlessly blending the cadence, rhythm, and cultural language of hip hop with the vulnerability and depth of poetry. With TONYELA, she pushes that boundary even further, introducing listeners to what she calls her own genre of spokenword poetry.
The album is a collection of both new poems and songs shaped by lived experience, reflection, resilience, love, pain, spirituality, and personal evolution. Rather than simply telling stories, TONYELA invites listeners to feel them while opening their minds to a different understanding of what poetry, music, and spoken word can become when they occupy the same space. The project also marks MasterPiece’s production debut, producing 4 of the album’s 10 musical tracks including “Black On Black Freestyle” & “Shooting Stars”. The lead single “Rest” was also co-produced by the Poet along with Ishmael Moody of Almaro Records. The single is also available on all platforms.
