“I’ll be a first-generation graduate who is graduating for not only myself, but for my family and my siblings. I want to show them that no matter where you go or how you get there, you’ll get there.” — Adan, Dallas College Richland Campus student

Adan’s journey at Dallas College has been about discovering his path, finding his community and learning more about himself along the way. After changing his major several times, he discovered his passion for hospitality and event planning and found an opportunity to put that into action through the SPACE program. He now is involved in planning and supporting events for students and dreams of planning major events for the city of Dallas.

As an online student, Adan has found a learning style that works for his busy life while still making time to come to campus and connect with others. For him, community can be a simple “Hi” that brightens someone else’s day and brightens his, too.

Adan originally planned to continue his education elsewhere, but along the way, he realized that Dallas College was giving him opportunities, connections and experiences he didn’t want to leave behind. He made the decision to pursue his bachelor’s degree at Dallas College, continuing the journey he started right here.

Adan's story is a reminder that your path doesn’t have to be perfect or planned from the beginning. Sometimes, the path you didn’t expect becomes the one that feels right.

“I want to be someone who falls, gets back up and keeps running.”
