What does “strange flesh” actually mean in Jude 7?
It’s sometimes interpreted as a reference to same-sex behavior. But as Matthew Vines explains, the Greek phrase literally means “other” or “different flesh.”
So what was Jude actually describing?
The passage points back to the story of S***m, where the men attempted to r**e angels. Jude’s reference to the Nephilim in Genesis 6 further supports the idea that the sexual transgression in view was the violation of the human-angels boundary.
A closer look at the language and context can change how we understand one of the passages often used in discussions about same-sex relationships.
