Raven is a very playful 7 month old Shih Tzu. She loves to be with her humans and insists on sleeping with them. She is doing really well with potty training and learning to ring the bell to go out, and she will bark to let you know she wants back inside. However, she does not like being crated or pinned up away from her humans. She will need another young dog to play with. She is the sister of Apple Cider. ❤️

Apple Cider is a tiny little 9 pound, 7 month old puppy who is ready to find her furever home. She has fantastic potty manners reluctantly will sleep in a crate, but she really wants to sleep in the big bed with her people.

Apple is playful but not “puppy crazy” and would prefer a playful friend who matches her energy and will be willing to share their toys and their family with her. She is very shy around new people and dogs at first, but if you give her a week or two to settle in, she will show you just how precious she is.💕

Welcome sweet Nutmeg to Tzu Zoo Rescue! ❤️

We were told she is a Pom mix, but she looks more like a Tibetan Spaniel.

She has an A+ personality, and her tail never stops wagging. She goes about her day, never bothering anyone. She follows her foster family around the house, content to sit at their feet when they have finally settled.

Nutmeg has free roam of the house but at night, she made it known very quickly that she would sleep in the bedroom on a fluffy bed and blanket. No negotiating on that. 😂

She gets along with small and large dogs, although she is not a big player. She would rather watch the antics of the other dogs.
If you would like a low-key, low-maintenance, sweetheart of a girl, then Nutmeg is for you. She is around 9 years old and 12 pounds. 💕

We have to close out the night with our sweet Joseph. We will never forget Joseph, Kevin or John Wayne. All were the worst we have ever seen and we pray we never see that kind of neglect again. 🙏🙏🙏

Joseph is living proof of just how resilient, forgiving, and incredible dogs can be.

When Joseph was found, he was in horrific condition—a complete ball of severely matted fur. Once he was shaved down, we discovered something even more heartbreaking: part of both of his left legs was missing.

We worried about his future. Would he ever be able to walk? Would he need special care for the rest of his life?

Joseph had other plans. ❤️

He didn’t just learn to walk… he learned to RUN. 🐾💨

And through everything he had endured, Joseph never held a grudge. He never stopped loving. He never stopped trusting.

Today, Joseph is living the life he always deserved. Even more incredibly, he was adopted by a member of our veterinary staff, where he is surrounded by love, compassion, and everything he could ever need. 🏡❤️

His story is exactly why rescue matters. It’s why we believe every dog deserves a chance, regardless of their condition, their past, their age, or their challenges.

Someone cared enough to take Joseph to the shelter instead of leaving him behind. That one act changed the entire course of his life.

Joseph reminds us that sometimes the dogs who need us most are the ones who have the most love left to give.

💔 THIS IS GROOT. AND HE NEEDED US TO FIGHT FOR HIM. 🐾

Although he had a rough start, we were thrilled when Groot found his forever family! 🎉

Groot was born with a congenital defect in his urinary system that made it extremely difficult — and dangerous — for him to urinate normally. His little body needed specialized medical care that most rescues simply couldn’t afford.

But we couldn’t turn our backs on him. ❤️

His journey began with a $6,000 surgery just to start correcting the problem. That was followed by TWO additional surgeries and an incredible 4-week stay at the surgery center before his plumbing could finally be corrected.

Groot got his chance because someone said YES when others might have said, “We can’t afford it.”

And that is exactly why we need YOUR help.

There are more dogs out there just like Groot — sick, injured, broken, abandoned, and waiting for someone to believe they are worth saving. 🐶💔

Beautiful Veranda (aka Lily) came to us in extreme pain and needing emergency surgery. She had an enormous bladder stone and needed help fast! We got her the surgery she needed right away, but she unfortunately developed an infection which caused a big setback and time in the hospital. Her treatment cost three thousand dollars! Without donations we would never be able to act quickly and help these babies when they need us most!

Veranda is now spoiled rotten and in her forever home with her Tzu Zoo doggie bestie! Happily ever after for this gorgeous girl!

Can you imagine this amazing girl being put out with the trash when her owners moved? She waited patiently by all of their old things like a good girl, even though she clearly had been very neglected! This just shows you how absolutely loyal and amazing dogs are! We got a call from a Good Samaritan and we knew we had to help her find a better life.

We named her Treasure, as she most certainly was treated like trash. She is still in the process of growing back her hair and getting healthy with lots of vet care and love in her foster home. She will make someone an amazing companion!!
