Local Profile magazine, formerly Plano Profile, is a community-based cross-channel publication for those who live or work in Collin County, Texas, an affluent community just north of Dallas. 800 MARATHONS BEFORE 80 — AND HE’S NOT DONE YET!
Plano resident Clyde Shank completed his 800th marathon Sept. 20, reaching the milestone just before his 80th birthday and nearly 32 years after running his first marathon in Dallas.
🏅 800 marathons completed
🇺🇸 At least 10 marathons in every state
🌎 At least three on every continent
❄️ Three marathons in Antarctica
🧊 Even one at the North Pole
🏃 First marathon: Dallas White Rock Marathon in 1994
When he isn’t traveling for races, Shank trains in Plano with a group connected to the Sam Johnson Recreation Center and Chisholm Trail.
For Shank, the thousands of miles aren’t simply about chasing another number. They’re about consistency, community, active aging and continuing to show up.
And 800 isn’t the finish line.
“My body will tell me when it’s time to quit,” Shank said. “I can’t see stopping now.”

FRISCO’S NEWEST PARK WAS BUILT WITH CYCLISTS IN MIND!
The approximately $40 million Northwest Community Park is now open just south of PGA Frisco, bringing more than 120 acres of trails, playgrounds and preserved natural areas to the city.

A NEW MIXED-USE DISTRICT IS COMING TO TOYOTA STADIUM IN FRISCO!
Hunt Sports Development announced plans for a new hospitality, dining and entertainment district on the east side of Toyota Stadium and Soccer Center, in partnership with Peak Curated Development and VENU. The project is expected to break ground in 2027.

🍽️ Full-service restaurant + bar

The district will complement the previously announced office development on the stadium’s west side, which is planned to include more than 1 million square feet of office space.
Meanwhile, Toyota Stadium itself is undergoing a major renovation scheduled for completion in 2028.

CAFÉ BRAZIL IS BACK IN MCKINNEY AFTER 14 YEARS!
The Dallas-born restaurant has returned to the city with all-day breakfast, late-night dining and a particularly local connection — its owners live in McKinney, and their family is helping run the new location.

NORTH TEXAS GIVING DAY RAISED MORE THAN $76 MILLION FOR LOCAL NONPROFITS!
North Texans showed up for local causes once again, with 94,700 donors contributing to more than 3,300 nonprofits during the Sept. 17 fundraising event.
💰 More than $76 million raised
🙌 94,700 donors participated
❤️ 3,300+ nonprofits supported
🌎 25 different cause areas represented
📈 $788 million donated since the event began in 2009
🎁 Amazon surprised 15 nonprofits with additional donations
The preliminary 2026 total surpassed the $74.2 million recorded by midnight on Giving Day in 2025, though last year’s final total later grew to $78 million as additional donations were processed.
And giving isn’t over — the North Texas Giving Day platform remains open year-round for those who want to support local organizations.
