We were introduced to Tara Smith years ago as a recipient of our Love Box program, and ever since we have consistently been blown away by her selflessness as a foster caregiver.

As a single caregiver, she has lovingly cared for children of all ages, from infants to youth, while also frequently providing respite care for other foster families (up to 5 children at a time)! This month, Tara welcomed her 20th foster placement—an incredible milestone that reflects her extraordinary heart for children.

Tara’s compassion, dedication and willingness to continually open her home truly inspires us all, and we are so proud to have her in the DFW Angels community!

DFW Angels is looking for donated airline miles to help us create an exciting travel package for our upcoming fundraiser auction! The proceeds raised through this package will directly support our programs serving children, youth, and families experiencing foster care across DFW.

For the past three years, H-E-B has generously supported DFW Angels through grant funding. As a family-owned business committed to serving communities across Texas, H-E-B embodies the spirit of Texans helping Texans—and we are honored to call them a longtime partner.

We are also excited about our growing partnership with Grubbs! Their team is sharing valuable knowledge with youth in our Dare to Dream® program, offering guidance on everything from choosing the right vehicle to understanding financing, interest rates, and the responsibilities of car ownership.

More than an unforgettable night, the gala fuels our mission to walk alongside children, youth, and families experiencing foster care through intentional giving, relationship building, and mentorship.

Moving Day! July brought an exciting milestone for D*, a young adult in our Dare to Dream® program: moving into a new college dorm! 🙌

Her mentor contacted our team to help support her during this important move and to celebrate this new chapter. We were thrilled to be able to lend a hand, plus it was so special seeing how excited D* was to move into a new building that was closer to campus and her classes. We could feel her sense of relief to be so much closer to campus life. Our team also had the opportunity to sit down for a meal with her after a busy morning of moving boxes, and it was wonderful to go deep with her about her life, schedule and her plans for the future.

Moments like these are what Dare to Dream® is all about: ensuring that young people navigating life after foster care have consistent, caring adults beside them through both the everyday moments and life’s biggest transitions.

We are incredibly proud of D* and excited to see all that this next chapter holds for her!

This is more than a traditional school supply drive. Instead of providing one-size-fits-all items, we give children the opportunity to choose the backpacks, shoes, clothing, and school supplies that reflect their unique personalities and individual needs.

We are asking our community to support this effort by donating gift cards or hosting a gift card drive within your office, business, church, or organization. These gift cards allow families to shop for exactly what their children need — from the perfect backpack to new shoes and classroom essentials — helping every child start the school year feeling prepared and proud. 🫶
