Box 4 Firebuffs

Box 4 was honored to receive a generous donation from the Fireline Fund Dallas today. These young men are an amazing force in our community and they are making an impact helping to support our first responders.

Two of the young men had family members who lost their home in the Palisades wildfire in Los Angeles. From that tragedy, the Fireline Fund was founded. Through the last year and a half, they have learned how to create and register a charity, the challenges of navigating government agencies and how to use their network to grow and develop funding. We look forward to many years of collaboration with the Fireline Fund and these wonderful young men.

896 is back in the house after assisting at a mutual aid call at a wrecking yard on Dowdy Ferry Rd. Crews had approximately 30 vehicles as well as some piles of tires on fire.

Box 4 was honored to attend and assist at the annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb in downtown Dallas. On this 25th anniversary of the attacks, we remember those who sacrificed their lives in service on that terrible day. Our own Lt Cash Manning completed the stair climb again this year carrying the name of a firefighter who lost their life trying to save others.

As we were clearing from the fire on Royal Ln, another box came in at the Studio Movie Grill and Spring Valley & 75.
The fire was confined to the atrium roof but there will be extensive cleanup and repair involved.

The work isn’t stopping for Box 4! This afternoon we received a special call to assist at a 1 alarm fire in the 7700 block of Royal Ln.
First arriving companies found fire in at least one apartment and there were numerous elderly residents who had to be rescued.

While we were still at Sand Branch Sunday evening, we were called to respond to another 2 alarm brush fire back at the scene of the original call on Saturday night. Crews again had fire in the woods that was extremely difficult to access. We remained out with them for about 3 hours before all the hot spots were extinguished and everyone could clear.

We all managed to get home at about 3am after the fire in Sand Branch and were able to get about 4 hours sleep before being requested back to the same area to assist with ongoing overhaul efforts. We assisted multiple mutual aid cities and remained on location for almost 12 hours before being called away for another 2 alarm brush fire.

We had just finished restocking at the station after the first run when we were assigned to the 2 alarm brush fire on Burns Rd in the Sand Branch section of Dallas County.
First in companies had heavy fire showing and were told multiple structures were on fire. Thankfully there were no structures involved. It was a large illegal dump site burning and became an all night operation with multiple mutual aid departments assisting.

This has been a challenging weekend for Box 4. The work started Saturday night about 7pm when we answered a 2 alarm grass fire at North Anderson and Loop 12. This is a recurring location where there is usually lots of fire in the woods. Crews had to make multiple trips with the boosters and brush trucks to knock the fire down.
