The woman in the red dress is Achalla Anyong Lueth, a mother of four in Warrap, South Sudan. Two boys, two girls. All in primary school.
Before the repair, her days looked like this: hours walking to distant water points, children missing school to help carry, sickness creeping into the household.
Now? Clean water is steps away. Her kids are back in class. Life feels normal again.
That's what one well repair does. Pump mechanics showing up and getting it done.

Meet Julia Anger G*i, a Pump Mechanic from Mangar Tong Payam, South Sudan, and a mother of three who now loans money to other women in her village. 💧
After WESI trained her in pump repair, business management, and trauma healing, Julia built a life she runs on her own terms: repairing wells, paying school fees, farming, and reinvesting in the women around her.
"WESI changed my life completely. Now I can care for my children and serve my community with clean water."
She's not waiting for help. She is the help.

Five kids, now six. A newborn baby boy. And she's already talking about going back to work.
Suzanna Akuol Nyeng is a pump mechanic in South Sudan. Her community chose her. Said: " Train this woman. Make her the first female mechanic this area has ever seen."
So we did. And in the first six months of 2026, Suzanna and her partner repaired 16 wells. All while she was pregnant.
She didn't slow down. Her community needed water. Her family needed a future.
This is what women do when you hand them the tools. They are ferocious.
The only thing that can stop Suzanna? Parts. Parts manufactured in India and shipped to South Sudan. That's what our No Obstacles campaign funds.

20 years of clean water in South Sudan.
3,900+ wells repaired. 2 million people served. And every one of those systems is maintained by local women, trained as pump mechanics, running their own businesses, keeping water flowing for their communities year-round.
Last year, we made a decision most organizations would never make: to close our doors by 2030. Because the goal was never to exist forever. It was to build something that no longer needs us.
We're not building a nonprofit. We're eliminating the need for one.
