Before a single wall moved, this is what “home” was supposed to feel like for them.

Every project starts with a vision statement before it starts with a floor plan. For Midcrest, that statement was simple to read and harder to design toward, a home that feels welcoming and airy, warm enough to be cozy, and alive enough to feel like celebration, entertainment, and creativity all belong in it at once.

Those aren’t finishes. They’re feelings, and they don’t show up automatically just because a kitchen is beautiful.

The navy cabinetry and warm brass hold the coziness. The open sightline from the kitchen to the living space and the walls of glass hold the airiness. The patterned tile and the round dining table, built for lingering rather than rushing through a meal, hold the sense of celebration.

This is the concept phase for Midcrest, the vision translated into an actual plan before anything is built. Your vision leads a project like this from the very first sketch, not just the final walk-through.

This table gets used more on a Tuesday than most dining rooms get used all year.

A dining room only earns its place in a home if it actually gets sat in.

For this family, that meant designing around real use, seating comfortable enough for a weeknight dinner, a layout open enough to spill into conversation with the kitchen, materials that hold up to daily life instead of a room reserved for guests twice a year.

The space works because it was built around how this family actually gathers, not around how a dining room is supposed to look in a photograph.

She already had the planter. She just needed to know exactly how it would become a fountain.

On the Birkenhead project, our client came to us with something specific already in mind, an existing planter she wanted transformed into a working fountain, not replaced with something new.

We walked her through exactly what that meant before anything changed, what the piece could hold, how the water would move through it, what the timeline looked like. No guessing, no surprises partway through.

What she wanted just as much was simpler to name and harder to deliver, a front yard she felt proud of every time she pulled onto her own street.

The fountain now anchors a yard built around that pride, a graphic paver and lawn pattern that reads as intentional from the curb, plantings that frame the entry instead of crowding it, a piece she already loved given a new reason to be the first thing you notice.

The art that defined the color scheme and mood for this project

Furnishing a room gets treated as the fast part of a project, the finishing touch after the real decisions are made.

For this piece, we took the opposite approach. The color story in this room had to hold its own against the artwork’s existing palette, not fight it or disappear into it. That took weeks of looking, and revising the color scheme of the project to actually earn its place.

The result reads effortless because the decision wasn’t rushed. Nothing in this corner of the room happened by accident, including the pieces that look the most spontaneous.

A project isn’t finished when the big decisions are made. We stay through the details that make a room feel resolved.

Color gets picked last on most projects. On ours, it’s one of the first decisions we make.

Paint color is usually the decision people save for the end, once the furniture is chosen and the room is nearly finished. By then, color is reacting to everything else in the space instead of shaping it.

We treat it the other way around. Color sets the mood of a room before a single piece of furniture is chosen, warm and grounded, cool and quiet, bright and energizing. Every other material decision, the wood tones, the metals, the fabric, gets chosen to work with that mood, not the reverse.

That’s why a room can have beautiful individual pieces and still feel disjointed. The color story was never actually decided, it was assembled backward from whatever got picked first.

Every plant in this bed was chosen to survive a Texas summer without a fight.

A garden that looks lush in April and struggles by July isn’t actually finished, it’s just planted for the wrong season.

For this property, we built the bed around native and adapted plantings from the start, species that hold their color and shape through Texas heat instead of needing constant intervention to survive it.

The bloom you see here isn’t the peak of a fragile plan. It’s what this bed looks like on an ordinary week, months into a Dallas summer.
