Those are the moments that remind us why Empty Hand, Open Heart exists.

Every person’s journey looks different, but being able to walk alongside women as they rebuild confidence, experience encouragement, and step forward with strength is something we never take for granted.

This work is about more than martial arts. It’s about creating moments of connection, courage, and hope. ❤️

In our research, we haven’t found another organization doing quite what we do — combining martial arts experience, survivor-centered empowerment, and community service in this way.

And after more than a decade of doing this work, we’ve learned a lot.

If there are martial arts schools, instructors, or women in martial arts who feel called to bring something like this to their own communities, we would love to help.

We can share what we’ve learned, offer guidance, and help you think through the systems and structure that have made this work possible.

Because this has been more than a program for us. It has been an opportunity to use what we know to help others rediscover strength, confidence, and hope — and we would love to see that impact grow far beyond North Texas.

What is Empty Hand, Open Heart? ❤️

For more than a decade, this work has been rooted in one belief: every person deserves the opportunity to move forward with strength, confidence, and support.

Through self-defense and martial arts training, we walk alongside women who have experienced trafficking, abuse, sexual violence, and other forms of trauma—helping create space to rebuild confidence, learn practical skills, and reconnect with their own strength.

Empty Hand, Open Heart officially became a foundation a little over two years ago, but the heart behind this mission has been growing for much longer.

And we’re just getting started. ❤️
