Happy Father's Day to the dads out there doing extraordinary things in ordinary ways.

To the fathers in uniform — law enforcement, fire, EMS, emergency management, and the military — thank you for showing up for your communities AND coming home to your families. That balance takes more than most people know.

To the kids who grew up watching their dad put on a badge, a helmet, or a uniform — you know something special about what it means to serve.

And to those who lost their dad in the line of duty — we honor him today. His sacrifice shaped you, and that matters. 🙏

What a run it's been!

Week before last — Texas Division of Emergency Management conference. Last week — Texas ISD Police Association. This week — Texas Chief Deputies Association Conference.

Four weeks, four conferences, and more incredible people than I can count. The conversations happening in these rooms remind me why this work matters so much.

And yes… a spare amount of bills. Worth every penny. 😄

June 27 is National PTSD Awareness Day — and June is PTSD Awareness Month.

The people in public safety carry things that don't clock out when the shift ends. Trauma accumulates. And too often it stays silent, because the culture doesn't always leave room for it.

First responders experience PTSD at significantly higher rates than the general population. Su***de claims more officers and firefighters each year than line-of-duty deaths combined. These aren't statistics — they're people with families and crews who depend on them.
