Update (8/10/2026): The Ojai Raptor Recovery Center reports that Jackie the Eagle has passed away. Some have called her the most famous bird in the world, as millions of people watched her and her partner shadow on a dynamic, live video feed provided by the Friends of Big Bear Valley and Big Bear Eagle Nest Cam .

Update for 8/3/2026: The says today's blood work for Jackie the inured eagle carried some difficult news. Her packed cell volume has dropped since their last update, which means her anemia has worsened.

The vet team responded with additional diagnostic testing, which is now underway with expedited laboratory results requested.

In the the most recent episode of Beaks, Dr. Jim Bednarz speculates that Jackie's fight, captured on film, which led to her hospitalization might be what saved her, considering her underlying medical issues.
