This sculpture comes from a Naga Tribe. Nagaland is located in northeastern India and is home to multiple tribes. Naga art is coveted and difficult to acquire.
The vintage piece came from a headhunter tribe. It depicts common Naga themes such as a feline and other stylized animals carved in a symbolic V-shape. This sculpture serves as a display of accomplishments and intimidation.
At nearly 9’ tall, it’s not easy to capture the entire piece in one photo!
