1903 is heading to California! ✈️☀️
Our Creative Director & Co-Founder, Michela Rose Fulco ,is on her way to Los Angeles for the 2026 Create & Cultivate Festival. Two days dedicated to women building businesses, careers, communities, and what comes next.
….She’s not going just to take notes. 👀
There will be workshops and conversations focused on professional growth along with one-on-one sessions to talk through real challenges, including one of our favorite subjects around here: branding!✨
Some of the best professional development happens when ideas are exchanged.
We’re excited for Michela to represent 1903 again this year & if you’re attending Create & Cultivate this year, come say hi and take a selfie!

Behind every business is a story. This is part of ours. ❤️🇲🇽
For Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re proud to share a more personal side of our Co-Founder & Strategist, Junior Castro.
“A Goat Farmer Turned Strategist” is a conversation about his family’s roots in Mexico, his mother’s strength and sacrifices, and the experiences that ultimately changed his definition of success.
We’re grateful to everyone who has taken the time to read, comment, and share.
Now, the full story is available on the 1903 Design Studio blog.

25 years later, we remember.
We remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, the heroes who ran toward danger, and the countless acts of courage/compassion that followed.
Today, we honor their lives and the strength of a nation that came together in the face of unimaginable loss.
We will never forget. 🇺🇸

Good design doesn’t start with design. It starts with understanding. ✨
It’s easy to think of design as the things we can see, the logo, colors, website, typography, but the best design starts much earlier.
It starts with asking questions, understanding the audience, identifying the real problem, and building trust.
In our latest blog, we're sharing more about how that mindset has shaped the way we approach design and strategy, what Junior's background in science taught him about curiosity and problem-solving, how we see AI fitting into the creative process, and why being human still matters in business.
At the end of the day, good design isn’t just about making something look good. It should make your business easier to understand, and give you back something every business owner is chasing:

Today, we’re putting business aside for a moment to celebrate one of the people behind it. 🎂❤️
Happy 28th Birthday to our co-founder, Michela! 🎉
If you’ve met Michela through 1903, a community event, networking, or one of the many relationships we’ve been fortunate enough to build, you’ve probably experienced the heart she brings into everything she does.
Behind the scenes, she’s an enormous part of what makes 1903 unique! From the creativity and ideas to the relationships and countless little details (your lists), that go into building this business every day.
We’re incredibly grateful for everything this past year has brought and even more excited about what’s ahead.
Today, though, the designs can wait (sorry everyone) 😝
Here’s to 28, Michela! 🥂🎈
Drop her some birthday love in the comments! ❤️

Have you ever looked at a successful competitor and thought…
“Maybe we should be doing what they’re doing.” 👀
I get it. As a Creative Director, I actually think understanding your competition is an important part of building a strong brand.
The problem starts when inspiration turns into imitation.
I look for patterns.
-What is everyone doing?
-What are customers already used to seeing?
-Where is there an opportunity to do something different?
If every business in your industry looks and sounds the same, it becomes much harder for customers to understand why they should choose you.
✨ Study your competitors to understand the market, not to become them.
Here’s a quick challenge:
Take a look at your three biggest competitors and then look at your own brand.
What would make a customer remember yours?

Some stories deserve to be told more than once. ❤️
Last year, we shared the story of Xela Bistro and its founders, Frances & Abel, two first-generation entrepreneurs who have built something special right here in Duncanville.
But what has always stood out to us about Xela goes beyond the food.
It's their love for family, their gratitude for the community that supported them, and their commitment to giving that support right back.
As September begins, we wanted to revisit a story that continues to remind us what doing business with intention can look like.

What a great night with the Fort Worth business community.
We were finally able to attend an Access Fort Worth event at the beautiful Fort Worth Botanic Garden.
Thank you to founder Isabel Cable for creating a space filled with intentional community leaders who genuinely want to learn from and connect with one another.
We also had the opportunity to hear from Doug Renfro of Mrs. Renfro’s and Jeremy A. Johnson of The Novyx Group, who shared some incredible insight and wisdom around growing and scaling a business.
Business is about so much more than sending proposals.
The person you meet today doesn’t need to become a client tomorrow. They might become a friend, referral partner, collaborator, or even a mentor.
Real relationships take respect, consistency, and time. That’s how trust is built.
