Fortune House puts its dumpling-making on display. A large window inside the restaurant lets guests watch the kitchen staff fold them, and the black truffle xiao long bao are the must-order. Ginger beef and honey walnut prawns round out the table. π₯π―

S&D Oyster Company has been serving Dallas out of a building that's more than 130 years old. Red gingham tablecloths and exposed brick still set the dining room, and there's a breezy courtyard out back. Rex's Seafood took the reins in 2023. π¦ͺπ

Chef Sergio Esquivel rebuilt the Saint's quail piccata around jumbo quail, fried in a tempura batter light enough to stay out of the bird's way. It was on the menu under the previous chef, but this version is in the running to be the definitive quail dish in Texas. It arrives in lemon butter and capers.π

Will and Julie Salisbury spent years in fine dining β Monarch, Carbone, Urbano Cafe β before opening their own pizza shop in August. The 18-inch New York-style pies include a loaded baked ziti version pulled from Will's childhood. ππ

Chefs for Farmers founder Iris Midler is launching the Community Impact Awards, an inaugural dinner on Wednesday, September 30 at CBD Provisions inside the Joule. Honorees include Greg Katz of Katz Brothers Hospitality, Marisol Lopez of HALL Arts Hotel, and Richard Torres of Chefs' Produce Company. Sixteen years in, the festival keeps turning its attention to the people behind the plates. ππ

Potpourri Boulangerie fills a former cake and flower shop, reimagined by Quebec-trained chef Andres Barreiro. Its reservation-only afternoon tea runs five courses, anchored by a tower of tea sandwiches and pastries. The counter also handles seasonal baked goods, fresh breads and espresso. π₯π«
