🚨 Water Safety Lesson: What To Do If Someone Pulls You Under
This isn’t just a swim skill - it’s a life skill. Today we worked with our 4-5 year old boys on what to do if another kid (even a friend, even by accident) grabs them and pulls them under water:
1️⃣ Kick away fast straight to a wall. Don’t fight the person pulling you. Get distance immediately and get to something solid you can hold onto.
2️⃣ Tell an adult right away. Every time. No exceptions.
Drowning is fast and silent, and it often starts with exactly this kind of scenario - kids playing, someone gets pulled under, and panic takes over before anyone notices. We work this until it’s instinct, not something they have to think about in the moment.
I could not be prouder of this group. At 4 and 5 years old, they kicked hard, they got to the wall without hesitating, and every single one of them came straight to me afterward to tell me what happened. That’s exactly the response we’re training fo - calm, fast, and no freezing up.
