A Pride spirit day at Marshall Simonds Middle School in Burlington, Massachusetts, drew national attention after a group of students organized a counter-protest. While students were encouraged to wear rainbow clothing in support of the LGBTQ+ community, others wore red, white and blue or black instead. The protest reportedly escalated when students tore down Pride posters and decorations and chanted, “USA are my pronouns.”

School officials said participation in the event was optional and students were free to express their views through their clothing. However, administrators also made clear that destroying school property, disrupting activities and disrespecting other students were not acceptable. The incident sparked heated debate among parents and community members over student behavior, free expression and the role of Pride-related activities in public schools.

Some parents called for accountability over the destruction and disruption, while others defended the students’ right to reject an event they did not support. The controversy reflects a broader divide over how schools should balance personal beliefs with respectful conduct and the responsibility to protect every student’s ability to learn in a safe environment.

“Pretend I’m on the ballot because if we don’t win, they’ll end up impeaching me.”

Donald Trump made that appeal at a campaign rally in Oklahoma, urging Republicans to treat the November 3 midterm elections as if he were personally running. His message reflects a familiar pattern in modern politics: Republican turnout is often stronger when Trump’s name is directly on the ballot, while support can drop in down-ballot races.

Trump’s warning also highlights the importance of congressional control. If Democrats take the House, they would gain greater authority to conduct investigations, issue subpoenas and control committees. Democrats have discussed possible investigations involving Trump and his administration, although party leaders have not committed to another impeachment inquiry.

Trump has already been impeached twice and acquitted by the Senate both times. Whether voters view the midterms mainly through the lens of investigations, legislation, oversight or impeachment will be one of the central questions of the election. The distinction is important: congressional control can shape the direction of government, but another impeachment would still require a formal House vote and a Senate trial.

Gal Gadot has become the center of a major political and cultural debate surrounding Disney’s *Snow White*. The Israeli actress, who served in the Israel Defense Forces and has publicly supported Israel, faced boycott campaigns from activists who objected to her political views, nationality and background.

Gadot has expressed frustration that her acting career and creative work are being judged through the lens of her identity and political beliefs. She has argued that the controversy surrounding Israel affected the reception of *Snow White* and said she was disappointed by the film’s performance. She later acknowledged that many factors can influence a movie’s success and did not attribute the outcome to political criticism alone.

The controversy raises a broader question about whether audiences should separate an artist’s work from their political views. People have the right to disagree with Gadot’s positions and decide whether to support her films. At the same time, her Israeli identity and public advocacy have become part of the discussion surrounding her career, whether she believes that is fair or not.

At just 23, Colombian reggaeton artist Dan Sur became a viral sensation after claiming that heavy gold chains were surgically attached to his scalp with hooks implanted beneath the skin.

Sur filmed himself placing the chains underwater to prove they were real. The unusual appearance spread quickly across social media and helped him gain millions of followers. But what looks like a shocking fashion statement also raises serious medical concerns. Invasive scalp procedures can lead to deep infections, tissue damage and other complications involving the skull.

The attention may have brought Sur online fame, but extreme body modification carries risks that should not be ignored. A viral image does not show what happens beneath the skin or what complications may develop later.

Some people may see a group of volunteer bikers and expect a motorcycle gang. Instead, these riders have become a source of protection and support for children facing some of the most frightening moments of their lives.

When a child must attend a difficult court hearing, volunteers accompany them so they do not have to face the experience alone or encounter their alleged abuser without support. Their work also extends beyond the courtroom. Members may provide home protection, es**rt children to school and accompany them to therapy, creating a steady network of physical and emotional support. The goal is not to interfere with the legal process. It is to help children feel safer and remind them that people are standing beside them.

Every volunteer undergoes background checks and training before taking on this responsibility. For a child living with fear, seeing a group of dedicated people show up can make a meaningful difference. Support is not always complicated. Sometimes it means being present, standing strong and making sure a child knows they never have to walk alone.

What matters most is not how these volunteers look, but what they are willing to do for children who need protection.

The Trump administration has begun sending $500 refund checks to more than 950,000 Americans across the 30 states using the federal HealthCare.gov marketplace. Eligible recipients will receive the one-time payment along with an official letter signed by President Donald Trump.

According to the administration, the refunds are intended for marketplace enrollees who paid the full cost of their insurance premiums without federal premium assistance. Officials say consumers were wrongly overcharged through excess HealthCare.gov user fees, creating a surplus that is now being returned to eligible individuals.

The payments apply only to the 30 states using HealthCare.gov for 2026. The remaining 21 states and the District of Columbia operate their own marketplace systems, so eligibility and payment details may differ. The administration says the checks are part of an effort to return excess healthcare-related funds directly to consumers.

Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson have been close friends for nearly 30 years, but McConaughey has accepted one hilarious truth about his longtime friend: Woody may be the world’s greatest yacht freeloader.

According to McConaughey, their vacations often follow the same pattern. He is packed and ready to leave while Harrelson has not even opened his suitcase. When McConaughey asks why, Harrelson simply says, “Because I’m not leaving.” The reason? He supposedly swam over to a nearby mega-yacht the night before, introduced himself to the owners and convinced them to let him stay for an entire week. McConaughey joked that Harrelson has no interest in owning a yacht because he is the “number one free yacht-jumping man” he has ever met.

And somehow, Harrelson apparently manages these adventures without even carrying a wallet. Whether every detail has been exaggerated for a good Hollywood story or not, it perfectly captures the playful friendship between the two longtime co-stars and Harrelson’s ability to turn a random encounter into a luxury vacation.

Mark Carney has built a global profile in 2026 by openly challenging U.S. President Donald Trump, fueling speculation that he could win the Nobel Peace Prize or be named TIME’s Person of the Year.

Carney briefly became the betting favorite for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize on the prediction market Kalshi, where traders placed his implied odds at 14 percent. That figure is not evidence that he is on the Nobel Committee’s secret shortlist. The winner is scheduled to be announced October 9 in Oslo. Meanwhile, Carney and Trump remain locked in an escalating trade dispute, with U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods followed by Canadian retaliation. Trump has repeatedly said he deserved the Nobel Peace Prize, once claiming he “should have won that award more than anybody.”

Political experts say a Carney victory could further damage relations between the two countries. “President Trump would be furious,” said Daniel Béland, a professor at McGill University. Nelson Wiseman, professor emeritus at the University of Toronto, also said a Carney win would make Canada-U.S. ties even more difficult.

Carney’s case for TIME’s Person of the Year is also gaining attention. He has already been named one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People, and commentators have pointed to his rising popularity after directly confronting Trump. TIME’s selection is scheduled to be announced December 10.

The release of the Epstein records has brought millions of pages into the public domain, but questions remain about what was withheld, what was redacted, and the legal basis for those restrictions. The Justice Department says it reviewed more than 6 million potentially responsive pages and released nearly 3.5 million pages, while withholding or redacting material covered by legal exceptions and protections for victims and private individuals.

The public has a legitimate interest in understanding what remains unavailable and why, while survivors deserve strong protections for their identities and personal information. At the same time, any credible evidence of criminal conduct should be investigated regardless of who may be involved, including people who hold or have held public office. No person's position should replace the ordinary requirements of evidence, due process and lawful investigation.

Just as importantly, appearing in an address book, photograph, email, or flight record is not by itself proof of criminal conduct. The goal should be transparency without guilt by association: protect survivors, release what the law permits, clearly explain legitimate redactions and pursue credible evidence wherever it leads. Accountability is strongest when the same evidentiary standards apply to everyone.
