My daughter Luna has been my co-founder and sidekick since she was six. Together, we started EmergencyRV to show up for families who have lost everything in a natural disaster. The Jenkins family has a place to call home again.
After losing their home in the 74 Fire in Colorado City, CO, the Jenkins family told us they felt invisible and forgotten, and that they didn’t know how they were going to make it through the winter in a tent.
Once the initial attention dies down, these families are still there, trying to figure out where they’re going to live and what they’re going to do next.
That’s something we want EmergencyRV to change by helping provide one of the most immediate needs after a disaster: a safe place to stay.
We want the Jenkins family to know they haven’t been forgotten. There are people who see them, care about what they’re going through, and are willing to show up.

Behind the scenes of a phone call with a wildfire survivor.
Before we delivered his fifth wheel, I wanted to call Michael Jenkins and hear his story.
On Father's Day, the 74 Fire tore through Colorado City, Colorado, destroying seven homes including Michael's. For nearly two months, he and his family lived in a tent on their own property, in the middle of a Colorado summer, dealing with extreme heat and bears coming around the property at night.
Michael is a retired disabled firefighter. We thank him for protecting others and we believe that firefighters deserve to know that when the worst happens to them, someone will show up the same way they always have.

Today is the first day back to school for Luna and Jack so we went on a field trip to pick up a fifth wheel yesterday and delivered it to a family in Colorado City, Colorado, who lost their home in a wildfire on Father’s Day. They’ve been through something nobody should have to go through - losing their home and so much of what they had.
After hearing this fire-fighter family was living in a tent for the past two months, we knew we had to do our part and help give this family a little bit of shelter and some breathing room while they figure out what comes next.

🚨 We’re looking for an angel with a truck and a 5th wheel hitch. 🚨
EmergencyRV needs a volunteer driver to help tow a 5th wheel from Enid, Oklahoma, to Denver, Colorado for a wildfire survivor family in need.
If you have a truck equipped to tow a 5th wheel and can help make this journey possible, we’d love to hear from you.
Pick up location: Enid, Oklahoma
Drop off location: Denver, Colorado
Approximate distance: ~550-600 miles one way
Estimated drive time: 9 hours
Requirements: Personal truck (half ton or above) with a 5th wheel tow hitch capable of towing an RV and full insurance coverage
Gas reimbursement: Provided in full by EmergencyRV
Timing: As soon as possible
Our team will provide complete support before, during, and after the drive as well as a full briefing on towing safety and route planning before departure.

Today is and we’d like to take a moment to celebrate the people who make this work possible.
Thank you to every donor who has trusted EmergencyRV and believed that, when disaster strikes, families deserve their own safe space, sense of dignity, and a place to begin putting their lives back together.
Thank you to every volunteer who has shown up with their truck, their tools, their hands, their time, and their heart.
Thank you to every partner who has opened a door, made an introduction, shared resources, or stood beside us when the path forward wasn't always clear.
And today, we especially want to recognize every single nonprofit organization doing the hard, often unseen work of disaster recovery.
Over the years, we've had the privilege of meeting and working alongside organizations that dedicate their lives to helping communities navigate the aftermath of hurricanes, floods, fires, tornadoes, and other disasters. Organizations filling gaps, serving neighbors, rebuilding communities, and finding ways to help people move forward when everything feels uncertain.
Disaster recovery is not the work of one organization. It takes a network of people and organizations willing to say, "We'll figure this out together."
At the end of the day, we're not just providing RVs. We're part of a larger community committed to showing up when people need us most.
SURVIVOR UPDATE !
Some of you may remember the footage Steven sent us a couple of weeks ago showing flood waters rising around his camper in the middle of the night. It was terrifying to watch and even harder to imagine living through.
Today, we get to share a very different update: Steven is safe, and he’s now in an EmergencyRV — thanks to our supporters who helped bring a little comfort and a sense of normalcy back to his life.
A special shoutout to David, who hauled this RV all the way from Florida to Kerrville, Texas to help make it happen.

More than 900 structures have now been destroyed by the wildfires in Spokane, Washington. Entire neighborhoods have been devastated and thousands of people are facing the unimaginable task of figuring out what comes next.
Woody spoke with 9NEWS (KUSA) about what we’re hearing from families and why we’re already working to help. We’re hoping to deliver RVs to Spokane as quickly as we can, giving families a safe place to land while they begin rebuilding their lives.
