National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week(NPSTW) is celebrated annually during the second full week of April to honor 911 dispatchers for their life-saving work, commitment, and service. In 2026, this week is April 12–18.
The Dover PBA visited our amazing dispatchers and brought them food at the Morris County Communications Center to honor them in person and say thank you for a job well done.

A Machete. A Standoff. A Peaceful Surrender.
On April 23rd we will be honoring brave first responders at 52nd Annual Valor and Meritorious Awards Celebration.
Our spotlight today is to honor Officer Christopher Caraig, Officer Jose Matos and Officer Giordan Matos of the Town of Dover Police Department and Rockaway Township Police when outside the DSW Shoe Warehouse in Rockaway Township, a Dover PD patrol vehicle was violently rammed by a man in his car. The suspect fled the scene on foot — armed with a machete. What followed was a volatile, high-risk standoff with an armed and emotionally unstable individual refusing commands. Through calm communication, patience, and tactical restraint, he de-escalated a confrontation that could have ended in deadly force.
