Scouting is about more than earning badges, learning skills, or wearing a uniform. It is about building character, developing leaders, serving others, and becoming the kind of person others can count on.
A great example of that spirit was on display recently as Troop 288 alum and Eagle Scout Jason Strauss coordinated with his friends and colleagues to host an awesome "Heroes Night” for Cub Scout Pack 456!
Thank you, Jason, for giving back to Scouting and creating an experience the Cubs will remember. They had a fabulous time—and, more importantly, they got to see firsthand what it means to live the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
That is the Scouting value we see throughout Hunterdon County**. Scouts are learning to lead, to serve, to take responsibility, to work as a team, and to put the needs of others ahead of themselves. Those lessons don't end when a Scout ages out of the program. They become part of who they are—as students, employees, community members, parents, and leaders.
From Cub Scouts taking their first steps on the trail to Scouts BSA members pursuing the rank of Eagle, Scouting builds character and leadership one experience at a time.** And Hunterdon County is stronger because of the young people who make that journey.
Jason's story is a wonderful reminder that "once a Scout, always a Scout." The lessons learned in Scouting create a responsibility to give back, mentor the next generation, and help others find their own path.
🦅 Now it's your turn.
If you're a young person looking for adventure, leadership, friendship, service, and the opportunity to become something more—be a Scout.
And if you're a parent, give your child the opportunity to discover what Scouting can do for them.
The trail is waiting. Take the first step.

Leadership. Service. Scouting in Action
Troop 194 Flemington NJ 's future Eagle Scouts took on a major Eagle project — improving the roadway access for the Flemington Area Food Pantry (), a route used by families and volunteers every week. Ben and Henry Stratton wanted to make a difference at the Food Pantry, and they certainly have!
This isn’t just a project. It’s a demonstration of what the Scouting program builds: initiative, teamwork, problem‑solving, and real community impact. The Scouts coordinated with local officials, assessed safety concerns, and put in hands‑on work to make the pantry more accessible spending a lot of hours in on making this happen.
Big thank‑you to Mayor Brad Perry, an Eagle Scout himself, who stopped by to support their efforts and recognize their leadership.
These Scouts are closing in on their Eagle Scout rank — and their work is already making a difference. Proud of Troop 194, proud of these young leaders, and proud of Scouting.

Celebrating Hunterdon County’s Eagle Scouts!
A special thank you to Congressman Tom Kean for recently recognizing the outstanding Eagle Scouts of Hunterdon County and celebrating their accomplishments and commitment to service.
The Eagle Scout rank represents far more than a badge. It is the culmination of a journey built on leadership, perseverance, responsibility, service, character, and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
These young men and women have challenged themselves, learned to lead, overcome obstacles, served their communities, and demonstrated that leadership is not simply about being in charge—it is about serving others and making a positive impact.
The values learned through Scouting stay with young people long after they leave the trail, campout, or troop meeting. They help develop the leaders, neighbors, volunteers, professionals, and community members our communities need for the future.
Congratulations to all of Hunterdon County’s Eagle Scouts—and thank you to the parents, Scout leaders, volunteers, mentors, and organizations that help make this journey possible. 🇺🇸
