Puffins live on the Cliffs of Moher.
Actual puffins, nesting 700 feet above the Atlantic,
part of one of Ireland’s most protected coastal habitats.
The cliffs themselves formed over 300 million years ago and remain the most visited natural attraction in the country
— and you’ve probably already seen them without realizing it.
Princess Bride’s “Cliffs of Insanity” scene and
the cave in Harry Potter where Dumbledore and Harry search for a Horcrux were both filmed right there.
That’s day three of a fully guided week through Ireland.
From there, the day continues into Galway
— home of the Claddagh ring, that heart-hands-crown design recognized worldwide.
Legend traces it back to a Galway goldsmith who was captured by pirates,
sold into slavery, learned the craft in captivity,
and returned home to make the ring for the woman he loved.
Four hundred years later, it’s still made there.
The afternoon closes at a working sheep farm
— a real shearing demonstration,
a border collie rounding up the flock,
and scone-baking inside a 250-year-old cottage with the family who’s run it for generations.
It’s the kind of stop no one plans on their own,
and it’s often the one travelers talk about the most once they’re home.
Follow along, and tag someone who needs the Cliffs of Moher on their list.

St. Patrick wasn’t even Irish.
Born in Britain, kidnapped at 16,
brought to Ireland as a slave,
and forced to spend six years alone herding sheep on a freezing hillside.
He escaped, made it home
— then chose to go back, voluntarily, as a missionary,
to the very country that once enslaved him.
That’s the man behind one of the most famous stories in Irish history.
Legend says he stood on a hilltop in Tipperary trying to explain the Holy Trinity
to a local king who wasn’t convinced
— three persons, one God, how does that even work.
So he bent down, picked a shamrock off the ground, and held it up.
Three leaves, one stem.
The king converted on the spot.
That hilltop is the Rock of Cashel,
and it’s the centerpiece of day two on a fully guided week through Ireland.
The day opens gently at the Irish National Stud in County Kildare,
where breeders pay six figures just to breed one mare with a top stallion.
Then Cashel rises straight out of the flat countryside
— seat of the Kings of Munster since the 5th century,
where Brian Boru was crowned in 978.
The day closes in Limerick at the Treaty Stone,
marking an 1691 treaty that sent thousands of Irish soldiers into exile,
the origin of the city’s nickname, “Treaty City.”
Evenings come with a choice
— an optional medieval banquet in a candlelit castle hall,
or free traditional music sessions at local pubs along the river.
What’s the detail about Ireland that surprised you most today?

There’s a pub in Dublin that’s been pouring pints since 1198.
I’m sending two couples to Ireland next month and agroup of six in 2027
— so this week, I’m walking through exactly what a fully guided week in Ireland looks like.
The rhythm is simple:
breakfast every morning,
a full day of touring,
and evenings that alternate between a group dinner
and free time to explore on your own.
Dublin sets the tone for all of it.
Over a thousand years of history sits in plain sight here
— Trinity College holds the Book of Kells, a 1,200-year-old hand-illustrated manuscript
people travel across the world just to see,
and St. Patrick’s Cathedral has stood since the 1100s,
still the largest cathedral in the country.
The oldest pub, The Brazen Head,
sits on the very spot where the city itself began
— still pouring pints over 800 years later,
one of somewhere between 750 and 1,000 across Dublin alone.
This week covers all seven days
— the 668-foot cliffs dropping into the Atlantic,
a farm stop for scone-baking with a family who’s done it for generations,
the coastal drive travelers fly across the world for,
and the full rhythm of what a guided week through Ireland actually delivers.

Travel emergency at 65.
You don’t realize how quickly “someday” turns into “too late” when it comes to travel. ✈️🌎
At 25: Travel feels like a luxury—something for after life settles down.
At 35: It becomes an expense—always pushed behind careers, mortgages, and responsibilities.
At 45: It turns into family time—making memories while everyone is still together.
At 55: The kids are grown. You’re an empty nester, and freedom starts to feel like a passport.
At 65: It finally clicks:
“I need to see the world now.” 🌎
Here’s the reality:
If you begin traveling at 65 and take just one trip a year until 80, that’s only 15 trips.
15 opportunities to experience the world.
New cultures.
Different cuisines.
Unforgettable destinations.
People with completely different perspectives.
Stories that stay with you for life.
And yet, so many people continue waiting for the “right time.”
But there isn’t one.
Waiting doesn’t improve timing—it only reduces time.
Maybe it’s finances.
Maybe it’s work commitments.
Maybe it’s waiting for someone to join you.
Maybe it’s “we’ll do it someday.”
But someday isn’t a strategy—it’s a delay.
Travel doesn’t begin with perfect conditions. It begins with a decision.
A decision to book the flight.
A decision to prioritize experiences.
A decision to go.
And once you do, everything shifts.
You stop imagining the world—and start experiencing it.
🌍 New cultures
🍜 Incredible food
🏔 Breathtaking landscapes
📸 Moments that can’t be recreated
Don’t wait for the perfect time to travel.
Start where you are, with what you have.
Because the real question isn’t “When is the right time?”
It’s:
“How much of the world are you willing to miss while you wait?”
🌎 The world is still there. The time isn’t.
👉 Save this as your reminder
👉 Share it with someone still saying “someday”
👉 And start planning your next journey today
On a personal note: Moment like these make me reflect on the grateful life that I have. When I lost my son, Brandon, I wished our family had more trips with him 😢

Twenty-five. That’s how many cruise lines
are part of Distinctive Voyages right now.
It’s one of the questions I hear most:
“is my cruise line even part of this program?”
More often than not, the answer is yes.
This isn’t a small, boutique offering tied to one or two brands
— it spans nearly every major name in cruising,
ocean and river both,
and most guests sailing on these ships this week have no idea the program even exists.
Remember the truffle hunt in Grignan,
or the private afternoon in Mykonos we shared earlier this week?
Those weren’t one-off experiences on a single lucky sailing.
They’re happening across this entire list,
on ships booked every day by travelers
who don’t know what’s available to them.
Here’s the full list, alphabetically:
1. AmaWaterways
2. Atlas Ocean Voyages
3. Avalon Waterways
4. Azamara
5. Celebrity Cruises
6. Crystal
7. Cunard
8. Explora Journeys
9. Holland America Line
10. HX
11. Lindblad Expeditions
12. Norwegian Cruise Line
13. Oceania Cruises
14.Paul Gauguin Cruises
15. Ponant
16. Princess Cruises
17. Regent Seven Seas Cruises
18. Royal Caribbean International
19. Seabourn
20.Silversea Cruises
21. Star Clippers
22.UnCruise Adventures
23.Viking River Cruises
24.Virgin Voyages
25.Windstar Cruises
If you’ve cruised with any name on this list,
there’s a real chance you were closer to one of these sailings than you realized.
Share this with someone planning a cruise.
Save it for when you’re ready.
And if you’ve already got a trip in mind, send us a message

This wraps our Distinctive Voyages series.

Picture a quiet, foggy forest in Southern France.
Damp earth and old oak trees in the air.
A third-generation French farmer at your side, along with his scruffy, hyper-focused dog, Bruno.
Bruno stops. Paws furiously at the soil.
Brush the dirt away, and there it is — a rough black nugget.
A Black Diamond. You just found it.
A wild French truffle, running anywhere from $20 to $40 an ounce depending on the season and grade.
Two hours later, guests are seated on a farmhouse terrace in Grignan,
glass of Côtes du Rhône in hand,
fresh cheese in front of them topped with the truffle they found themselves.
Most travelers see France through a tour bus window.
This is France from the forest floor up.
Food isn’t just something guests eat on these sailings.
It’s something they experience.
There are a handful of Colors of Provence sailings on the calendar for 2027,
and we have additional AmaWaterways perks
available that aren’t found booking this anywhere else.
If this speaks to you, send us a message and let’s talk.

A lighthouse at the edge of the Aegean.
A centuries-old monastery bell tower in a village most travelers never find.
Windmills catching the last light before Little Venice turns gold at sunset.
That’s not a typical Mykonos day.
That’s Unforgettable Mykonos, an exclusive shore event,
and exactly the kind of experience that makes Distinctive Voyages worth knowing about.
The day unfolds like this:
it begins at the Armenistis Lighthouse,
with sweeping views over the island most guests never see.
From there, Kalafati Beach, all pale sand and turquoise water.
Then the quiet village of Ano Mera, where the Panagia Tourliani Monastery has stood for centuries. And finally,
the Mykonos everyone pictures
— dazzling white streets, the windmills, Little Venice with its houses perched right over the sea,
and a stop at Panagia Paraportiani, one of the most photographed churches in the world.
All of it included, at no extra cost,
on select sailings like Regent Seven Seas new ship Seven Seas Prestige.
With so many cruise lines part of Distinctive Voyages,
days like this are happening on sailings all the time
— most travelers simply don’t know to ask.
If a cruise is already on your radar, send me a message and I’ll check if your sailing includes something like this.

Champagne in hand before guests have even unpacked.
That’s embarkation day on a Distinctive Voyages sailing,
and it’s one of the perks that surprises people most.
Here’s how it works:
guests board, bags haven’t even made it to the cabin yet,
and instead of navigating a massive ship on their own,
they’re welcomed into a private reception
— Distinctive Voyages guests only.
The host is already there, greeting each guest by name,
pouring the first glass,
making introductions before the ship has even pulled away from the dock.
Take a Barcelona-to-Athens sailing,
with Rome, Capri, and Santorini ahead.
By the time the ship clears the harbor,
guests have already met two or three other couples.
Traded a laugh or two.
Made dinner plans with new friends before day one is even over.
This is the difference between guests who feel like strangers on a big ship,
and guests who feel like they belong there from the first hour.
It’s not luck. It’s the reception, working exactly the way it’s meant to.
Follow along this week for more on what Distinctive Voyages actually looks like on board.
Tomorrow: the exclusive shore event only these guests get access to.
08/11/2026
A personal VIP concierge, for an entire week at sea.
That’s essentially what comes with a Distinctive Voyages host.
Here’s the distinction worth knowing:
this person isn’t a cruise director, and they don’t work for the cruise line.
They’re on board because a guest booked through a travel advisor with Distinctive Voyages access.
At no extra cost,
it’s simply another layer of care most guests on that ship don’t even know exists.
Picture this: sailing Regent Seven Seas from Barcelona to Rome on a Distinctive Voyages departure.
At the Livorno stop,
the exclusive shore event is a wine tasting at the renowned Tenuta del Buonamico,
set in the Tuscan countryside,
with a stop in the small hilltop village of Montecarlo di Lucca.
A beautiful afternoon, but traffic delays the return to the ship.
No cause for concern — the ship waits for excursion guests.
Still, what would normally be a scramble is already handled.
The host has moved the dinner reservation and the spa appointment before anyone’s back on board.
Some of what they take care of:
• Dinner and spa reservations, adjusted without a guest lifting a finger
• Honest guidance on which excursions are worth the time
• Introductions at the welcome reception, so no one is standing alone
• Ship logistics and orientation, whenever questions come up
• Local insight at every port
• A direct line for anything that comes up mid-cruise
It’s a level of care that’s easy to get used to.
I love knowing that I can set this up for our clients before they ever leave home.

Tomorrow: the reception that kicks the whole thing off.

This past May, several clients set sail from Barcelona on Celebrity Cruises
— winding through Lisbon, Portugal, then Tangier, Morocco, before returning through Spain.
What they didn’t know before departure:
they were sailing on a Distinctive Voyages cruise, which means Free Perks.
Same ship as every other guest on board.
But only travelers who booked through an advisor with access to this program received what they did
— welcome reception, a dedicated onboard host,
and shore events unavailable to anyone else on that sailing.
All included, at no additional cost.
Distinctive Voyages spans both ocean and river cruising,
with over 500 sailings a year across 14 premium and luxury cruise lines.
It’s one of the ways we’re able to elevate a trip our clients have already chosen
— without adding to what they pay.
So if you’re already dreaming up a cruise, or you’ve got one booked, just ask.
I would be my pleasure to check and see if you are on a Distinctive Vogages cruise.
