Protect the Roadless Rule!

In a joint statement by Tribal Governments and Inter-Tribal organizations, Tribal groups are displaying "an unprecedented show of unity" in opposition of the rescission of the Roadless Rule.

Rescinding the Roadless Rule, and the process that has been taken thus far to do it, is a direct attack on Tribal sovereignty and could significantly impact Tribal rights to access treaty-reserved resources, sacred sites, and other culturally significant areas.

The Trump admin says repealing the Roadless Rule will reduce wildfires. A new study casts doubt on that. The Trump administration says it wants to repeal the roadless rule to reduce wildfire risk. The federal government repeatedly cites wildfire risk reduction as a reason to roll back the roadless rule. Based on States’ experience, he thinks that any mitigation will be undermined by the increased number of wildfires that will start.
