There is something about water that keeps calling us back.
Ruthie Vinette is nearly 97, still spends weekends on her boat, and describes the water simply as her “happy place.”
But one detail in her story really stayed with us. At age 60, after a lifetime spent around the water, Ruthie decided to take formal swimming lessons. She learned new breathing techniques, improved her freestyle, and went on to swim thousands of laps.
Her story is such a good reminder that there is no age limit on learning something new, finding joy in movement, or feeling the power of water.

This Falls Prevention Week, we're thinking about how the right aquatic environment can support balance training and mobility programs.
For senior living communities, a hydrotherapy pool should be planned around the people who will use it every day.
Can residents enter and exit comfortably? Is the water depth appropriate for different mobility levels? Do staff have enough room to provide assistance when needed?
These details matter when creating a space that supports regular participation and makes daily programming practical for staff.
Our new blog post explores how access, water depth, support features, and adjustable water current can all play a role in planning a hydrotherapy pool for fall prevention and balance training.
If you're planning an aquatic therapy space or exploring ways to support your community's wellness programming, we hope you'll find it helpful.

One of the first questions people often ask when considering a SwimEx pool is: What will it cost?
The answer depends on the pool, how it will be used, and the space where it will be installed.
Our latest blog post explains the factors that can shape the total investment, from configuration and customization to site preparation, installation, construction, and long term ownership.
It also helps clarify the difference between the cost of the pool itself and the broader project costs that can vary from one installation to another. We look at total cost of ownership and how construction quality, maintenance, serviceability, and support can affect what a pool requires over time.
If you are beginning to plan a therapy, training, or residential pool, this guide can help you understand what to consider from the start.
