With temperatures expected to reach more than 90 degrees June 14 and 15, the Federal Way Community Center will be open as a cooling center during regular business hours. ☀🌡

The Community Center is open Monday through Friday, 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cooling center is open to the public free of charge, but no pets are allowed.

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and check on neighbors who may be vulnerable to the heat.

I want to thank Sherwood Forest Elementary School for inviting me to its volunteer celebration yesterday afternoon. I had a great time connecting with so many dedicated volunteers, and I especially enjoyed the fun musical performance put on by some of the teachers!

Spending time with students and visiting our schools is one of the highlights of my year.

Thank you to everyone who gives their time to volunteer in our schools. Your dedication and support help create a better experience for students and make a meaningful difference in their lives every day.

I had the opportunity to welcome everyone to King County Executive Girmay Zahilay’s State of the County Address at our very own Federal Way Performing Arts & Event Center tonight.

It was inspiring to hear Executive Zahilay’s vision for the future and his commitment to building stronger communities across King County.

I’m excited about the work ahead and confident his leadership will bring positive results for all of us.

We have some seriously committed community members in Federal Way!

I stopped by our Community Clean-Up event at the BPA Trail this morning and was impressed by everyone who came out to help keep our trails green and beautiful.

Thank you to all the volunteers who gave their time and energy to help care for our shared spaces. Your efforts make Federal Way an even better place to live, work, and thrive!

I had a great time at the Multi-Service Center’s 25th Annual Spring into Action dinner and auction tonight. MSC plays a critical role in our community and really helps support those who need it the most!

Proceeds from this event directly benefit MSC’s programs and services that provide basic support such as food, housing support, and energy assistance to our neighbors throughout South King County.

Wow! I had the chance to attend “Make a Splash” at the Federal Way Community Center this morning and was blown away by the incredible talent on display.

Each year, the Pacific Waves Synchronized Swim Club hosts this fun exhibition to showcase the hard talent and skill of its swimmers, and they certainly delivered!

Their athleticism and creativity made for an outstanding performance.

I attended the Greater Federal Way Chamber luncheon at the Federal Way Performing Arts & Event Center this afternoon. Multi-Service Center (MSC) CEO Kirsten York and COO Amanda Santo joined the event for a conversation about the services MSC offers and the impact it makes on the community.

They also discussed their plans around the Transit Oriented Development projects they are leading around the new Downtown Federal Way Light Rail Station.

MSC is one of the great organizations in Federal Way. Their incredible work helps ensure our community members, no matter their situation, have a chance to thrive.
