If you've driven I-69 through Fishers, you've seen it: that huge, empty building on Kincaid Drive that used to be Fry's Electronics. 👀

Been around a while? You might remember it as Incredible Universe back in the '90s.

🏢 About 180,000 sq ft on nearly 17 acres
📅 Fry's closed in February 2021, so it's been empty more than five years
🚫 Ideas the city has passed on: trampoline parks, car dealerships, discount stores
🎯 Fishers wants the I-69 corridor to lean toward offices, life sciences, hotels, apartments and entertainment

323. 🏗️ That's how many new single-family home permits Hamilton County issued in August, according to the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis.

A year ago it was 197, so that's about 64% more, and it's the most of any county in the Indy area.

📊 August 2026 vs. August 2025:
Hamilton: 323 (from 197)
Marion: 175 (from 132)
Boone: 117 (from 85)
Johnson: 109 (from 85)
Hendricks: 88 (from 198)
Hancock: 82 (from 121)

Across all nine counties, builders pulled 953 permits, up 7%.

A permit means a builder is getting ready to start a home, so this is a good look at where new neighborhoods are taking shape right now.

Westfield, tonight is your chance to weigh in on a proposed Costco at 191st Street and East Street. 🛒

Here's what's on the table:

🏬 A Costco warehouse of about 167,000 sq ft
⛽ A fuel station with 32 fueling spots
🗓️ If approved, construction could start in 2027

Tonight at 7 p.m. is the public hearing in front of Westfield's Advisory Plan Commission. It's NOT the final vote. Next comes a workshop on Oct. 19, then a recommendation, and the City Council gets the final say. Some council members have already raised questions about a proposed left-turn entrance off 191st.

Last August, homes in Central Indiana spent a median of 17 days on the market. This August? 23. ⏳

Here's the August 2026 snapshot from MIBOR's latest market report (single-family homes):

🏷️ Median sale price: $327,250, up 2.6% from last year
🏡 Homes for sale: 6,941, up 14%
📉 Closed sales: down 5.2%
⏳ Median days on market: 23, vs. 17 a year ago

What it means: prices are still a little higher than last year, but buyers have more choices and a bit more time to decide. Sellers, pricing and presentation matter more than they did a year ago.
