Maggie is a sweet, fun-loving 2–3-year-old German Shepherd/Husky/Mountain Cur mix who has left the puppy stage behind—but definitely hasn’t left her playful spirit behind! She loves playing with her toys, going for walks, and enjoying all the little adventures that come with being a dog. Maggie is crate trained and housebroken, and she does wonderfully with kids and feline friends. She would also love to have another dog in her forever home. Maggie takes her cues from her canine companion, so having a confident, friendly dog to show her the ropes is a must for her. When it comes to new people, Maggie can be a little shy at first and needs some time to warm up. Once she’s comfortable, she’s happiest simply being near her people rather than constantly seeking out pets and attention. I’m 13 years old, slightly larger than a loaf of bread, and I’ve officially reached the age where I have earned the right to have opinions.
Apparently… my opinions got me returned. 😳
My crimes?
💅 I object to nail trims. Passionately.
If you’ve ever met a Chihuahua, you know this is hardly breaking news.
🌱 I refuse to potty on astroturf.
Listen, I spent 13 years learning that grass = bathroom. Fake grass? That’s patio carpet. I’m not falling for it. 😂
So here I am, looking for my forever retirement home — preferably with someone who appreciates a tiny old lady who knows exactly what she likes. ❤️
And let me tell you what you do get with me:

Because after 13 years, being returned over something as simple as nails and grass feels like a pretty lousy ending for a little lady who still has so much love to give.

You asked us to save Chilli. Now she needs your help finding a home. 🐾

Several months ago, the community begged us to save Chilli from euthanasia. We heard you, stepped in, and gave her a chance.

But since then, everyone seems to have forgotten about her. She isn’t receiving adoption applications, and she is still waiting for someone to choose her.

Rescue doesn’t end when a dog leaves the shelter.

Getting them to safety is only the beginning. There are months of care, food, veterinary expenses, and daily attention that follow. And behind all of that is a dog who deserves a family of her own.

If the same effort that went into getting Chilli out of the shelter went into helping her find a home, she might already be with her forever family. We need that same urgency, those same shares, and those same voices advocating for her now.

We understand that not everyone can foster or adopt. But sharing her adoption posts, checking in, and helping us reach potential families can make a difference. These dogs still need your support after they are safe.

Chilli deserves more than being saved from euthanasia. She deserves a home.

🐾 Six hours to bring their mama to safety. A second chance for an entire family. ❤️

Last week, Bonnie and her four babies came into our care—but getting this little family together took patience, determination, and six hours of refusing to give up.

Animal Care and Control had been able to recover her puppies, but Bonnie remained out there. Our team and LDOFW Lost Dogs of Ft Wayne brought her babies back to where she was and spent six hours bottle feeding and safely trapping their mama so she could finally be reunited with them.

Bonnie came to us severely neglected. Her coat was painfully matted, and it appears a mat caught on something and tore away skin on her lower back. We don’t know everything she endured while living outside, but we know she deserved help long before we found her.

She has already had a small makeover, with grooming done gently and at her pace. But underneath those mats is a mama who still has a long road ahead—and four babies depending on her.

We need your help to give this family the care they deserve.

Donations will help provide veterinary care for Bonnie, grooming, food, puppy pads, and the supplies needed to raise her babies. As the puppies grow, each will need vaccinations, deworming, prevention, and spay or neuter surgery before heading to a forever home.

Getting them to safety was just the beginning. Now comes the daily care, the healing, and the expense of giving all five a better future.

Bonnie spent too long trying to survive. Help us show her that she and her babies are finally safe, cared for, and loved. 🐾❤️
