A new look for our Angus Journal business listing. Thank you Angus Media.
With a final push and a groan, a G A R Wallace embryo bull calf is born and all of my anxiety wanes. The anticipation of new life never dulls.

Ever vigilant, these nursery moms watch over the new calves resting safely beneath their favorite shade tree, while a gentle breeze drifts in from the horizon. Oh, the freedom of being a young again.
Sharing a little peacefulness from my look back at the barn just before shutting down for the evening. There’s something special about the quiet moments when the day is done, all is settled, and a short pause allows a moment to take it all in.

We often share the victories of life on the farm - healthy calves, beautiful views, and so forth. But ranching is also filled with heartbreak.
This week, we lost one of our favorite embryo donor cows after she gave birth to this beautiful heifer. It's a reminder that life on the farm is equal parts joy and sacrifice. Every new beginning sometimes comes with an unexpected goodbye.
Today, we're grateful for the life given, and the life lost. The good, the bad, and yes, sometimes the orphaned. That's the reality of raising livestock.
One happy barn! Calving season is in full swing.
