I was looking at my October training and speaking schedule, and one of the things I like seeing is just how different the rooms are. Business owners, a managed service provider, a staffing agency, ABWA - Bryan/College Station Charter Chapter, Carver Center Foundation of Victoria Community AI training, Latino health leaders, BBB Heart of Texas, and others.

And again, that’s why I don’t think AI training can be one-size-fits-all. What makes sense for one organization may make absolutely no sense for another. The work is figuring out where AI actually fits into what your people are doing and where it can help.

Several of these October sessions are open to the public if you’re trying to figure some of that out for yourself. And if your organization needs something more specific, I’m always happy to talk about that too.

Dream bigger dreams! 💭

It’s time to level up everything I’m working on and help those (who are ready) to level up in where they can be. Our future generations are depending on the model we teach them! 💡

What a great day in Austin. 75° and overcast with intermittent rain so I am staying inside! My Hodgepodge soup (because it’s made of a hodgepodge of things from the fridge and freezer) is almost done. 😋🍲

I had a virtual meeting earlier this afternoon and now I am building my Chief of Staff-Executive Operations🤖for my business Skill (just finished turning my 4x day specialized email scan into a Skill), and in just a bit will continue working on my AI community membership so I can get that rolled out next week!

No Longhorn football 🤘🏾🏈 so I’m enjoying a laid-back productive but restful afternoon!

What’s on your bingo card for the rest of the day/weekend?

HUGE PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL MILESTONE! 🙌🏾

Back in July, Sam Altman Official Sam Altman posted on X that he wanted to see interesting things people had built with GPT-5.6 Sol. I had just used it in my own business for a targeted outreach campaign, so I responded and shared what I had done. It researched prospects, organized the contacts and drafted the emails. It missed some things, so I sent it back to fill in the gaps and refine the messaging, and I ended my response with, “AI did the heavy lifting. I made the final calls.”

Later, Chris Nicholson with OpenAI OpenAI Global Affairs emailed me saying they wanted to talk with me about what I had shared. Here’s the crazy part. Gmail put the email in my Marketing folder, and the only reason I saw it was because I have a daily email scan workspace through ChatGPT that picked it up and surfaced it for me. Otherwise, I honestly probably never would have seen it. 😂

We had the conversation, I shared more about what I had done, where AI helped, where I had to go back and make adjustments, and how that outreach ultimately led to a paid school district training within 10 days. Then on September 30ᵗʰ, OpenAI featured my work in two different places, one telling that story specifically and another as part of a larger piece about how small businesses are putting AI to work.

I think what makes this especially meaningful to me is remembering how this started. ChatGPT came out in November 2022. I opened an account in December because I wanted to see what it could do, and by January 2023 I was reaching out to Rotary Clubs, Chambers and whoever would let me come in and share what I was learning. I certainly wasn’t thinking a few years later OpenAI would be telling part of my business story.

I spend a lot of time thinking about what I need to build next, what needs fixing, what isn’t working, what opportunity I need to go after, blah blah blah, so I probably don’t stop enough and look back at what has actually happened along the way. This one made me stop for a minute.

I’m grateful. 😊 And I’m also reminded that sometimes you really don’t know where simply sharing what you’re doing, responding to the post or putting your work out there may lead.

I’ll put both OpenAI features in the comments if you want to read them.

Best definition of personal brand I’ve EVER heard.

💡 Your personal brand is what people say and think about you in your absence.

DOING SOME RESEARCH:

If you own a small business or work in a small business, which AI platforms are you using? ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot?

Has the business adopted one platform for all employees to use?

Sooooooo excited about ChatGPT Dots, ChatGPT Space, & Sol 6.1!!! 🤩

Anyone using Meta’s agent, Muse? Started using it last week… not bad! Figuring out different use cases for me! 🤖

I absolutely love being a speaker at SHRM Coastal Bend Annual Conference! I don’t take it for granted that they brought me back for a second year! Showing HR professionals the strategic role they play in AI adoption is not something I am seeing often… especially in some of the smaller more rural areas and for small and midsize organizations.

HR professionals, you have a huge role to play! Let me help equip you to advocate to your executive leadership an actual plan with measured intent on how you can have a much more successful AI adoption.

Remember, ACCESS ≠ ADOPTION! 💯

Heading to Corpus Christi this morning to conduct a two hour workshop for SHRM Coastal Bend, “AI is Already at Work; Here’s How HR Leads What Comes Next!” This is the second year that I have presented for this group and I have made numerous friends and associates over the past 18 mos with them. I will see you all in just a bit!
