9/19 CORDELE RACE RECAP:

We finally parked it where it belongs. What started as a pretty frustrating night turned into something great for us.

PRACTICE:
We got to the track a little late and missed the first practice session. We’ve only raced here once before and that was back in March, so I was having to learn the track all over again.

QUALIFYING:
In one word - terrible. We made a pretty drastic setup change from practice and I simply didn’t know how to make it work. Without looking it up again, I think we qualified 10th or 11th.

FEATURE:
Due to the overall low car count, they combined all divisions into a single race, but would still score each division individually. We made another change from qualifying and it proved to be a step in the right direction.

The first few laps were spent figuring out how to drive the track with the setup we had. We got better and better as the race went on. Had some fun side by side laps with Ronnie Wehunt and passed a few cars.

After the first caution, we started to show some strength as we reeled in some of the other cars in the middle of the pack. Two cars got together coming off turn 4, the 94 checked up to avoid it, and I got into the back of him. Nothing wrong on his end, I just didn’t react quick enough. Luckily we were both able to continue on. The right side of my front bumper was pushed in which wouldn’t let me turn the wheel as far, so that made it a little harder to drive.

Even with the damage, we still had some strength and was knocking on the door for some more spots. We were leading the Chargers at this point.

In the closing laps, a car behind us used his bumper to try and move us. Our bumpers got hung up through turns 3 and 4, but we were able to hang on. That car spun himself out the next lap. I think we had enough to make up one more spot, but we ran out of time. We won the Chargers and finished 7th overall with the Masters, Pro, Semi-Pro, and Young Lions divisions.

We had a ton of fun mixing it up with the more experienced drivers. We’re looking forward to moving up to Semi-Pro next season. We also had a great time meeting fans and signing some autographs.

We’re running out of space.. 😬 At a glance it looks like clutter. We prefer to call it “organized chaos”. We’re thrilled to have added another car to the stable. We’ve joked about putting dad in a car again, but it doesn’t look like he’s got much of a choice anymore 🏁

Yall, Allison has done it again. She told me that my birthday present was going to be a month or so late since it had to be custom made. I knew it had something to do with racing, but I didn’t expect anything like this. I’m very impressed with the detail. It looks great on my little shelf. (The rear bumper broke off during shipping but we’ll fix it).

She’s always been the most creative gift giver and constantly outdoes herself. Thank you, dear! I love it.

It’s hard to believe this photo is 10 years old. Marcy was a fast car at Dixie and Rome Speedway. We were severely underfunded and only competed about 5 times that year.

The best year we had in this car was 2017. We never did get a win, but we finished 2nd on 6 different nights. I don’t remember how each race went, but most of them were in the top 3. We just couldn’t quite put it all together and park in victory lane.

We always enjoyed playing in the dirt, but we’re having a blast in the Legend car on asphalt.
