🍂 Monday Memories at the Machine! 🍂
Our homeschool and afterschool students had a wonderful Monday working on festive Thanksgiving Placemats! 🍽️✨
They did a fantastic job diving into core quilting skills:
✂️ Pattern Design & Placement: Planning layouts and strip arrangements
🧵 Piecing & Batting: Learning how to sew strips directly onto batting
⚙️ Machine Control: Practicing steady speeds and precise seam allowances
It was amazing watching their confidence grow with every row sewn. These placemats are going to look beautiful on the holiday table! 🦃🍁

Monday Students: Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples' Day is October 12th. Class will run as usual, but if you have holiday plans, please let me know! You are welcome to schedule a make-up class for the following week.
Friday Small Group: Open Sew is on from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM! A few of us are working on table runners, but there’s no formal curriculum—bring your current WIP or join us in making some fun fall decor!

Fall is here and the fall projects have begun! Monday’s homeschoolers and Afterschoolers will be working on fall placements and learning beginning quilting techniques! When your plushie needs a little brother, you make one from scratch! 🐒✨
Today in the studio, we tackled a fun design challenge: turning a favorite stuffed monkey into a custom pattern. We simplified the body shape, traced and stitched the pattern, added sweet hand-embroidered facial details, and assembled all four long arms and legs just in time.
Meanwhile, big sis kept our resident studio supervisor, Casper, fully entertained in his sunny window nook. 🐱☀️

Monday’s homeschoolers and after-schoolers did a fantastic job finishing up their floor turtles! 🐢✨
If you’ve never seen one, floor turtles are cute, slightly stuffed fabric turtles with absorbent towel material on the bottom—perfect for wiping up floor spills and small messes. Just toss one on the ground, use your foot to slide it around to soak up the spill, and throw it straight into the washing machine when you're done! They’re such a clever, fun, and practical tool to have around the house.

Today was a busy, beautiful day of stitching! We had a full house of makers of all ages, and everyone worked so hard on their projects.
It’s always a joy to see so many different generations sharing the love of sewing under one roof! ✨

We love seeing our students build confidence and tackle new skills! This talented lady has been doing an amazing job in class:
✂️ Mastering Stretchy Fabrics: Hemming knit T-shirts is no easy feat, but her technique and control produced clean, professional seams.
🌸 Precision Work: She’s also been hard at work adding hanger loops and detailed embellishments to her custom wall panel project!
