We found some ripe pawpaws and they don’t last long. Maybe because they are native, grow wild and have never known any sort of spray…. How fruit should be!
A little late night recipe development and voilà: Sourdough pawpaw bread at the stand while it lasts!
Loofah, or “ridged gourd” or “Chinese okra” or “tori” or “patola” (the names go on and on, depending on the country).
It’s like a sweet tender zucchini when eaten raw. Steam it, stir-fry it, stew it in coconut milk, or with fish or bamboo shoots. So many ways to try this tropical squash that has taken over the high tunnel 😅
Or, wait until we harvest then dry and my wonderful mother crochets the best kitchen scrubbies and shower scrubbies that hold a bar of soap! The plant that keeps on giving and we have SO much of it!

Pawpaw season is here! Also known as the Missouri Banana, these creamy, tropical, custard‑like fruits grow wild in Missouri and we’re lucky enough to have groves here on our farm.
Pawpaws are picked when they have the slightest squish because they have a short shelf-life once they turn yellow and ripen. They are ready to eat when they feel like a banana. Eat them raw, in a smoothie or make pawpaw bread.
Small harvest, short season, unforgettable flavor.
Come grab yours while they’re here.

We are doing what we can to keep up with egg demands. Our hens that should be laying were taken by a family of fox earlier this summer 😢
If you see guinea eggs at the stand, here’s some fun facts:
Smaller than chickens eggs but packed with protein
✨ Rich in choline, vitamin B12, iron
✨ Thicker shells = longer shelf life
✨ Perfect for frying & scrambling
✨ Naturally nutrient‑dense thanks to their active, pasture‑based lifestyle
Limited quantities available. Guineas don’t lay as often as chickens, but if you see them at the stand give them a try!

Don’t feel like using dye? Source eggs from the right place, local and naturally beautiful. A big part of our farms practice is having a diverse flock, which promotes a healthy wide range of traits. One of those is colored eggs! Skip the dye and taste the difference, Happy Easter everyone 🤗 🐣🐰
