Only 17% of marketing leaders fully trust their own measurement. 😬

Gartner data: just 1 in 3 marketing leaders regularly communicate impact to the business, and most CEOs don't fully trust their marketing leader's numbers. Here's why that gap exists — and what closes it.

We listened to hundreds of hours of interviews with marketing leaders so you don't have to.

Here's our top findings.

#1: Leaders who sit down early and ask, “how will I prove this worked, and how will I benchmark it against revenue — before they launch a single campaign — tend to stay in their roles meaningfully longer.

#2: Leaders who start with the exciting stuff (by the way, and there’s nothing wrong with the exciting stuff, a rebrand can absolutely be the right call) – but put measurement on the backburner – tend to exit out of their orgs much sooner. The common thinking amongst this group is telling themselves “I’ll figure out the reporting once things are running”? We see a very different trajectory there.

Stop asking what functionality you *want* in your next martech tool. Ask what you can't live without.

Marketing shipped great campaigns. Marketing created buzz. Then leadership asks one question, and the room goes quiet.

Out of the box templates are great (and of course, we have those too 😉), but what customers often find uniquely valuable is being able to generate the exact unique reports - with filtering, custom field visibility, and drill-downs so each person within the team can see the exact data they need to make decisions with ease.

Thanks as always to our customers for the kind reviews + feedback! 🤗

It often doesn't matter what you know, it matters what you can *show*.

The most successful marketers often aren't the most talented ones in the room. They were the ones who measured first.

Some leaders build a measurement framework before a single campaign launches. Others launch fast and plan to “figure out reporting later.” One group enjoys longer tenure than the other.

"People still don't trust the data."

That's not us paraphrasing — it's a direct quote, and something we hear a variation of on most discovery calls we have.

More data. More dashboards. More AI-generated insights than ever. And somehow, less trust than before. We dug into why — pulling from our own customer conversations plus new research from Scott Brinker and Frans Riemersma — and landed on these 5 takeaways on how to fix trust in your marketing reporting:

1. Stop chasing one "true" model
2. Fix the plumbing before you fix the story.
3. Make disagreements visible, not buried.
4. Move from "who gets credit" to "what's actually working".
5. Treat trust-building as the deliverable, not the byproduct.
