A business can have money in the bank and still not be in a good position to spend it. đź’°
Before making a big purchase, hiring someone, taking a large owner draw, or adding another monthly expense, it helps to look at more than the current balance.
A few questions I think are worth asking:
What bills are coming up over the next 30 days?
Will this decision actually increase revenue, capacity, or reduce costs?
What new monthly expenses come with it?
How much cash reserve will be left afterward?
The goal isn’t to avoid spending money. It’s to make sure the money you spend actually helps move the business forward.
I’ve been building a free “Can I Afford It?” calculator to help business owners think through decisions like hiring, equipment purchases, and owner draws.
If you’d like a copy, feel free to reach out and I’ll send it over.

A lot of business owners look at the bank account first when they want to know how the business is doing. đź’°
The problem is, cash and profit are not the same thing.
Money sitting in the account can include customer deposits, loan proceeds, money that needs to cover payroll, taxes, bills, or other upcoming obligations.
At the same time, a business can be profitable on paper and still feel tight on cash because customers haven’t paid yet, debt payments are high, or money is tied up somewhere else.
That’s why I think bookkeeping should do more than keep you ready for taxes.
Your books should help you understand what the business is actually earning, where the money is going, and what decisions you can make with confidence. 📊
I’m currently taking on a few new bookkeeping and cleanup clients going into year-end. If you need help getting your books current or making sense of your numbers, feel free to reach out.

It’s September already 📅 which means year-end and tax season are getting closer pretty quickly.
If your 2026 bookkeeping is behind, your accounts haven’t been reconciled, or you’re just not confident your numbers are right, now is a good time to get everything cleaned up before January.
I’m currently accepting new clients for:
• Bookkeeping catch-up and cleanup 🧹
• Monthly bookkeeping 📚
• Account reconciliations ✅
• Financial reporting 📊
• Tax-ready books 🗂️
Monthly bookkeeping starts at $350/month. Cleanup projects are priced based on how much work is needed.
If your books are behind or you’re not really sure where they stand, send me a DM and we can take a look.

QuickBooks Tip of the Day: Reconcile your accounts every month, not just quarterly or at year-end.
Monthly reconciliations keep your books accurate, prevent costly mistakes, and give you a clear picture of your business all year long.
