Google says it has already procured 7GW of electricity for the Texas grid. That's more than double the amount of power used by the city of Austin.

The company has 2 facilities in Ellis County- with plans to open 3 more in Armstrong, Haskell & Wilbarger counties- none in the area.

Doug Lewin says the data centers will help pay the transmission and distribution fees to help strengthen parts of the grid that wouldn't otherwise get attention. And he says spreading the costs out among data centers means residents won't shoulder all of the costs themselves.

Your thoughts?

This is not something that happens to a lot of people, but I am so curious how much this guy overpaid over 16 years! And who the heck is calculating that refund when rates change daily? CenterPoint Energy Public Utility Commission of Texas KPRC2 / Click2Houston

So I'm showing my vacant garage apt in the to a very nice woman who just happened to be driving by and saw the "For Rent" sign on the street. I explain to her that it is street parking only.

Prospective Tenant: "But this seems like a very safe community. I live downtown on MIlam & I would never feel safe walking outside at night."

Before I can answer, we hear two quick bleeps of a police cruiser siren from the front of my house... and a cop on a bullhorn saying, "Put your hands up where we can see them... and get out of the car now."

We laughed. She got in her car and left. An undercover cop told me the guys they arrested were breaking in cars and homes again... a month after they were arrested doing the same thing last month in the Galleria.

So I'm that Houston Police Department caught the "alleged" criminals. But can I use this story to protest my Harris Central Appraisal District next year?
