Lifting up our dear brother Jallani, and his family, a brother built through the bonds of music, as we deeply mourn his passing.
There are no words to express the loss we feel and the indelible mark he left in our lives will be held close to our hearts and instruments for the duration of our time on this planet.
These last couple of weeks have left me with a profound gratitude for the epic memories we shared and the conversations, jokes, meals, and accidental notes during jam sessions we had with each other. The countless spheres of influence and sojourners, musicians and tribes that all sat at this man’s kitchen table would be enough to fill volumes of coffee table books and memoirs. Absolute legend.
Unmistakably, Lani was the glue that held us together in all seasons. We owe him a lifetime of indebtedness to that and for each rough gig, or failed practice session he was also there to motivate and raise thanks.
Don’t get me started on this man’s abilities behind a grill. I’ll forever be chasing his curry jerk chicken recipe to perfection, and likely never will be able to attain his level of culinary judo.
To many he was a dear friend and brother that could always be counted on to raise your spirits and inspire you with his jovial laugh, entrepreneurial tradecraft and deep knowledge of UFOs and conspiracy theories. When times were the greatest, Lani was there. When they were the worst, Lani was a phone call or text away from changing your entire outlook. A sage beyond his years. A friend to the end.
Above all he cherished his family and to watch his dedication day in and day out for years to provide and protect and praise them was a benchmark we should all strive for. I’m blessed to have been able to learn those lessons from him along the way. And brother, we will be here for them in your absence.
We love you and miss you terribly and have confidence in our reunion in eternity. Until then hold down the low end for heaven.
