Yesterday the Fifth Circuit reversed a lower court and reinstated key provisions of Texas SB 1 — in full.

Back in place in TX elections : Mail ballot ID matching. Voters must provide identification that matches state records

Assistance accountability. Anyone helping a voter complete a ballot must swear an oath and disclose their relationship to the voter.

But the court didn’t need to reach the merits on most claims, they ruled that the plaintiffs couldn’t show a single voter likely to be harmed in a future election. “The bulk of the plaintiffs’ claims fail for lack of standing.” Courts are finally asking the right questions and putting brakes on the lawfare industrial complex.

Now comes the Age of AI. Bad actors will exploit every crack — and current processes are defenseless against what’s coming.

State and federal leaders must work together on nationwide process reform. The clock is ticking.

Milwaukee election problems surface again; third major issue since 2024 Milwaukee has faced three election-related problems since 2024, including a presidential-election ballot recount, Supreme Court election ballot shortages and Tuesday’s flash-drive error.

152 duplicate ballots went out in Green Bay, WI. The clerk resigned. The Wisconsin Election Commission actually opened an investigation — which, frankly, is extraordinary in itself, but glad to see it.

And this wasn’t a one-off. This is the same clerk who took her cues from Zuckerberg-funded CTCL in 2020, allowed third parties to return ballots for others in 2023, and failed to deactivate registrations in violation of state law in 2024. A string of “mistakes,” every time.

But why were there no controls in place to stop any of it. No system flagged 152 duplicates before they hit the mail?

If it’s this easy to process duplicate ballots, maybe that’s not a bug. Maybe it’s a feature.
