My bass solo from our rendition of South by Charlie Daniels played this last weekend at Equiblues Rodeo Festival in Saint-Agreve, France!
Me and Scotty Alexander always have fun doing the fiddle/bass trading, and I get to pull out a couple of swingin’ lines🎸
I’m bringing back this banger from the year I was born. I always liked David Labruyere’s approach to the basslines on the early John Mayer records, and this is one of my favorites. He got the tone from running a Fender Precision Bass into a cranked Vox AC30, so I dialed in an AC30 on my Quad Cortex to have a somewhat historically accurate tone to the one on the record. If you’ve never heard the full song, or haven’t heard it in a while, I highly recommend going and checking out that bass tone!🤘🏻

Hey everybody, just wanted to let y’all know that I’m still doing virtual session work! I’ve got several different basses with all different kinds of strings and preamps/DI’s/modelers/profilers that ensure the right tones for your songs. Beyond the electric bass, I also offer upright bass tracks, and guitar tracks. I’ve got experience playing country, rock, jazz, blues, funk, and more. I offer good rates for all of my sessions, and offer revisions/alternate takes if needed.
This song you’re listening to right now is a virtual session that I did on upright a while back. Let’s make some music!
Elephant Gun (1986) - David Lee Roth
It’s doesn’t get any better than Billy Sheehan and Steve Vai playing alongside Diamond Dave. This solo is still a work in progress, but I’m enjoying getting it under my fingers so much that I had to post a little something!🤘🏻🎸
Little throwback to last year, swinging with the big band. Man I miss walking on my upright!
