🎨 Every brushstroke became a memory. Every memory became a masterpiece.

There are moments that remind us why art matters. Today was one of them.

The inauguration of Embroidering Our Stories was filled with smiles, pride, emotion, and the joy of seeing a collective dream come to life. Seniors and young participants gathered to celebrate the beautiful artwork they created together—proof that creativity has the power to connect generations, preserve cultural heritage, and build lasting community.

Watching each participant recognize their contribution within the installation was truly unforgettable. Every painted element reflects a personal story, a shared tradition, and the belief that our differences make our community stronger.

This project would not have been possible without the dedication and talent of visual artist Carolina Otero Carolina Ines Otero Pardo , whose artistic vision guided participants through this meaningful creative journey.

We are also deeply grateful to the incredible staff of BakerRipley Senior Center for welcoming this project with such warmth and enthusiasm, creating a space where every participant felt valued and inspired.

At One Sample Cultural Foundation, we are honored to have brought this vision to life in partnership with Houston Arts Alliance Houston Arts Alliance , the City of Houston Houston TX , and BakerRipley BakerRipley . Together, we continue to demonstrate that art is more than something we create—it is something we share, something that preserves our stories, and something that brings people together across generations.

❤️ To every senior, every young participant, every volunteer, every family member, and every supporter: thank you for adding your unique stroke to this collective masterpiece. This installation belongs to all of you.

Because every brushstroke tells a story, and together, those stories create a stronger, more connected community.

✨🧵 Every paint tells a story. Every generation carries a memory worth preserving.

Join us for Embroidering Our Stories, an intergenerational art installation where seniors and younger generations come together to transform memories, traditions, and cultural identity into a collective work of art.

This experience is more than paintings—it is a space to honor our roots, celebrate the richness of our diverse communities, and create meaningful connections through creativity.

Here’s to 250 years of freedom, hope, innovation, and the endless possibilities that arise when communities celebrate one another.

Happy 250th Anniversary, America! 🇺🇸❤️

to a beautiful Community Engagement gathering ✨

We came together to reconnect with our roots as women immigrants in Houston, sharing memories of home, the places that shaped us, and the emotions they still carry in our hearts. 🌎💛

Inspired by the moving artwork of visual artist Lorena Morales, we reflected on how home can live in memories, emotions, and the stories we carry with us—while also discovering new meanings of home in the lives we continue to build.

A powerful reminder that home is not only where we come from, but also what we recreate through resilience, community, and love. 🤍
