As you can see the traffic was terrible leaving the farm on Sunday… but the reward was well worth it. After battling the Guinea fowl then the ducks I was able to get on the road for a quick 24 hours over the bridge. Which included bedtime snuggles and taking my sweet grandson to school. The best was after we pushed the school gate open together he stood there with his hand held high waiting for me to hold his hand again to walk to his class. But wait- better- after I got to meet his new teacher and watching 2 other children cry at drop off, he confidently said good bye and went with his teacher to wash his hands and get his day starter. I was a little offended he didn’t get upset but so so proud of his parents for raising such a self confident toddler. I left with w tear in my eye and as I looked back on he was already at the dinosaur table playing.

This one picture is exactly what I never thought I would have or feel confident enough with my training to have. A barn full of different species not just coexisting but working together. We can learn from my animals.

Let me give you the low down. I had this conversation three times today alone with three different young adults. Finding yourself and what makes you whole is a long process. As David Zucker says, it’s a marathon not a sprint. But if I can give you three things to think about, here they are. These first two are how we raised our kids, first - you cannot respect others til you respect yourself and you cannot love others til you love yourself. Second, be ok with being with yourself, have your own friends and life even when with your partner. The third is something this past weekend away with these very strong, dynamic women taught me as well as the people I met along the way- from literally plane ride Philly to Denver and back as well as my time in Golden. You need to find meaning bigger than yourself in the world. It is not an overnight solution- but I am now determined to work this all into my work and days. How does this reel of feeding my donkeys relate you ask- chores make me happy! Joe Bob Montgomery

I have never felt the way I do after this past weekend. From the women I left that week, to people I sat next to on the plane, the people I met on the journey and the three women I spent 24 hours with. There are so many untold stories, so many lessons to learn and so so much left to do.

Sorry Red Rocks Crew you got me for ever and always. Here is the thing I left the farm before sunrise, had a long layover, which I needed to get so much done, then flew to Denver next to the perfect seat mate who was exactly who I needed. Had a night alone in Denver then had brunch with 3 strangers who were more like friends forever. Then off to Red Rocks! There are truly no words for the night. The people, the music, the location, did I mention the people and music. No words - but heading home today with a full heart and energy. So many small world, like minded moments. We are always asked the meaning of Sugar Water. Sugar is easy- Zucker. And water means a lot to David Zucker and me. Water is powerful, ever changing, brings people together, provides food and so much more. This weekend staying on the peninsula in Long Beach with the kids reminded us just how powerful it is. As the town worked day and night to move sand, reinforce walls and more the water still won. Hurricane Maria although far at sea pushed the water over all the barriers. We watched lifeguards pulling debris and keep people safe while keeping an eye on surfers. Water is truly amazing and a force to respect. Watching this water taught us a lot and reminded us of its power.

Quick trip to Mystic filled with so much of everything. Challah mission, bottles of bubbly, work breaks, time with my David Zucker and a magical wedding - Michele Mech Horwitz gained a daughter in law! The wedding weekend had so much love, laughter, friends time and magic. Not to mention good food and bubbly. Ian Mech Schlifstein congrats!

Ok- here is the thing. In 16 days I am doing something some would call crazy. But when I talked to these 3 about it they were like - and… David Zucker and I have always beat to our own drums, been unconventional which makes others uncomfortable (which is a whole other discussion)But our kids are like, that sounds like fun. So as a parent I’m like - whew - we did it. We raised supportive, independent, kind, loving and adventurous kids who are now adults doing the same. I might not of known it when they were little but this also may be why we have the honor of going on our little adventures with our grandson too. But more importantly why these three are my sounding boards. Raise kids you respect and value their opinions.

Gotta love the weekend. I laugh your weekend is my weekday and I love it. To fill the farm with people to share the farm magic and the hotel and restaurant with our crew and community is wonderful. No matter how exhausting it may be it offers such joy. The weekends are so much fun! Best part is my real Monday and Tuesday I was Bubbie!
